Alex from Chelmsford Essex reports

at 1212am 6th August 2009

22.1c mostly clear light southerly winds veering southeasterly humidity 77%

Yesterdays high was 28.2c and it was bright & humid Yesterdays low was 18.9c

I fully expect the temp to hit 27-28c tomorrow if not higher if sun comes out for long period.

    A strange start to the day - it's both not raining and there's some blue up there although still with the much more familiar cloud too so there's still some summer 2009 grounding there!

    A slightly cooler night at 16.8c min but perhaps a warmer day with these clearer skies now 17.3c.

    dry and quite bright but no direct sun with a lot of Sc cloud-min was 14.0C its now 16.9C; a fairly light WNW breeze.

    Mostly cloudy, odd bit of sun, currently a rather muggy 20.9c (Heat Index of 22.1c) rain on the way later this afternoon, might get a bit nasty too for a period, guess that depends how much heat and humidity builds before then.

    Actually a nice start to the day for once, this week has been just awful with dark overcast persistently wet conditions until yesterday afternoon, watch out for some very heavy thundery rainfall moving northwards this evening/overnight though.

    Started off bright with some sunny spells, clouded over quickly and now it is raining. OH just called from near Dorchester to report that the rain there is very heavy and there's a lot of thunder and lightning to the south and east.

    Wow I'm in shock - it's *sunny* and *dry* - and maybe we may beat 20c today too! 18.7c at the moment - be nice to get temps back on the right side of 20-21c again.

    See it's 26 and CAVOK at Gatwick and 27 at Southend.

    Here it's 17c and looks certain to be the 35th successive "high summer" day with the max temp failing to reach even 22c here.

    After a sunny afternoon yesterday, it's again cloudy here, it rained a while ago and there is more rain due in a couple of hours judging from the radar.

    Another wet day here, in Somerset.Thought the rain forecast was for you guys /Gals in the East!!!!!!!!!!!!it's only 14.6deg here too.I'm thoroughly fed up.
