    Saw some camels in the fields around Appleby the other day; that's how dry it's been. Just 27.2mm in February bringing the total to 65.2mm to the end of Feb.

    January = 93mm*

    February = 102.5mm

    March = 72.5mm

    * I recorded the snowfall mm amount using the NW Extra 24 hour accumulation facility for my postcode because snow had filled up my gauge, this added quite a significant amount on both big snowfall events (6 & 13 Jan - one was 12.5mm and the other 17.5mm). Is that an accurate way to measure rainfall when it's been snowing?

    Spotted my first Berbers closing in on the village well, and setting up a tent on the horizon. We can't hold out much longer.

    !84mm so far this year, and just 27mm in April, which fell on 5 days.

    The total for the year to date is on par with what the wettest ever months have produced hereabouts.

    Only 6 days of heavy rain (over 10mm) all year so far and none in both Feb and April.
