The one in my dad's van is very accurate - Almost always reads what my WS does.

Why are both my weather stations reading just below freezing? One is in the enclosed yar (Which is why this is wrong) But the other one is sitting on the car in the front, the street is about 10M wide out the front houses either side, but this shouldnt be making the temperature read 2c higher than it is.

No matter where I put it - It will never be accurate.

Direct sunlight is probably raising the temp.

On a side note, snow is forecast for our area late afternoon/evening

Both of my sensors are in the shade.

Maybe the heat of the car is affecting the sensor..or it could be a faulty sensor?

Cant see it - The car is covered in ice, frost and snow. And both sensors are reading similar. One is 0.0c the other is -0.6c (Just dropped from -0.5c)

Aye I would have thought Runcorn is one of the coldest places in the region, probably similar to Garston when it's cold however it is possible that a bit of elevation may raise the temperatures.

Sounds faulty to me.#

My Current Temp -2.2C slight rise from about an hour ago. Temps will be dropping again pretty much any time soon.

I don't think it's faulty, i think it's just my stations that are £60 ones.

My street is enclosed too..

I wouldn't of thought 150 feet of elevation would bring a 2c temp difference Stephen.

It could if temperature inversion was at play

You have just as much elevation as me. :)

Look at Manchester, -2c and they are veryr high.

If inversion is at play then there are a bunch of modifying effects which your area is more prone to than say across the mersey.

You would be surprised, look at what happened with some places in the region overnight. Chester at almost sea level got -12C, here only 300 feet higher 'only' got -7C (ok thats a bit of a bad comparison but)

aye but then your closer to the mersey and have protection from the welsh mountains..I have open land its not enclosed.

The protection from the welsh mountains wouldn't come into play on an Easterly, the winds were travelling over a cold land mass. The welsh mountains would have no effect. :)

Don't know if this has already been posted or anyone seen but they have removed the weather advisory on Sunday for the Midlands too. Only the south east remain in the advisory. Bit of a change isn't it? whistling.gif

Chester got to -12c?!

Wow my nan would of been cold!

I still think Runcorn is currently one of the warmest places in the region. -7c we had last night. Pretty bad considering 10c colder was recorded in Manchester.

Like I said temperature Inversion will modify temps quite a bit from location to location.

-11.3C my lowest last night. Rural areas are reporting colder temperatures than built up places.

Garston hit -10.2C , Crosby -11C maybe even colder was recorded in north merseyside.

It depends if the elevation is the same height your at if it is then it will record pretty much the same temp...Temp Inversion is localized

If you're on a hill tonight you;ll probably get the breeze around 5am - I am the highest point for miles around (apart from Wales), and to the east it's basically the highest point until Helsby Hill so that breeze is probably going to prop temperatures up.

frost hollows and low lying areas could once again see some very low temperatures.

I imagine on the steep hillside of lower Heswall temperature may only have fell to -4 or -5C last night.

Hilbre Island only fell to -2C

Guaranteed snow then lol

Actually I pretty much said the same thing yesterday, mostly midlands and south east will be affected by any snow, I was using the GFS for that analysis.

But dont be surprised if this smacks the meto in the face as it backfires

Oh, I see.

-1.4c now - Is that my sensor been faulty, or will it be dropping this early?

Garston now firmly into positive territory reporting 1.4C which is quite a hike from a couple hours ago.

Liverpool airport as recorded a drop -1.2C

My Temp -1.8C

Your temp from those around here looks right to me.

Those snow showers on the east coast are looking good for potentially some snow tonight (according to the nw forecast..we are due snow this evening/tonight..and 95% chance) lol
