Sky news Breaking news logo saying Met predicting drifting this weekend

plenty of snow

Thats at odds with the met predictions for the heavier snow further west, indeed the BBC showed nothing east of about S'oton.

I think it will come down to nowcasting.

Clouded over here with what looks like snow falling over the hills further north (-4.2C)

Yes GFS 6Z upgrading ppt. intensity run by run now. Now up to 2.5mm/hr, and we know that is only a guide to the general spread so I wouldn't be surprised to see much heavier bursts in there.

Now just waiting to see what the NAE has to say

GFS gone back to a breakdown after falling inline with the ECM last night then. There's a suprise.

Local council expecting at least 10 more days of ice, as the gritters are running out and only doing major A roads and larger B roads now. Who will be right.

Who cares... its 6 days away! yahoo.gif

Is that sentance correct? I thought the GFS had been showing a break down the last couple of days and the ECM was showing the continuation of the cold?

EDIT: SORRY, NOW I GET WHAT YOU MEAN!! FORGET THAT

The ECM has been continuing the cold and the early GFS runs y/day backed away from it (although its been playing catch up all the way through) and then the 18z last night fell into line with the ECM; prolonging the cold. This morning its back to a breakdown mid week next week.

Not checked the latest ECM yet.

OK NAE going for light snow out to 6Z on Sunday, giving 1mm. However it's only out to 6Z so the heavier ppt. may well spread across later

Left Swindon at 6:50 this morning and some light snow flurries we coming down. Looked like there had been a bit of snow over night? Temps were up to about -2.

So what's the deal with the snow coming over the weekend? I'm guessing we will see some but i guess the question is just how much. Looking at things it would seem it won't be that much???????

Good news! Just rang the company that supply the heating oil up here and they had sent a crew out to check the roads and decided they were too dangerous for the tankers.

So, no oil. "great" Still, might have enough for a couple of weeks. Possibly. whistling.gif

A Bit quiet on here, Sunday is nowing coming in the NAE model and shows how widespread the snow will be even between Sun 00 and sun 06Z.

Good agreement for between 5 and 10cms across the SW by the end of Monday, with some places getting more (based on luck).

ATM I am ignoring tues/wed as it's too much in the air atm.

Much colder today, even out of the wind -3c on car thermometer. School is still closed but two just

one mile away are open and they have worse roads than us :)

I suppose this is the last of the snow until a little dusting on Sunday and they can go back to school

on Monday...don't dissapoint me :)

Morning Iceberg,

Yes, thought I saw some tumbleweed a while ago...

Anyway the NAE does look pretty good for a top up of the snow and another 10cm of snow would just about finish the village off. Although at least this year the plough got up here and then the gritters... just they don't come down this lane (which I posted in the winter gallery)

Unfortunately, neither do the oil tankers...

Looking good for sunday and monday then.

However, i fear the problem round here will become quite bad.

As from tomorrow, Gloucester gritters are ONLY gritting major roads and the list of roads they will grit has left my road out.

Theres a big road that goes through abbeymead and abbeydale that links us to the rest of gloucester.

Its been bad but has been gritted.

However now there is no more grit for this road.

So any snow will make it pretty much un-usable.

Most of the roads around here seem to fairly good (at the moment!)...

Actually made it into work in Bath today (not in my car, as the roads on my estate are still pretty dodgy).

Went outside about an hour ago and the windchill factor was awesome cold.gif (there was no wind here at 07:50 this morning).

Another 10cms in Trowbridge would be very nice, thank you!

Morning, Made it into work today for the first time since Tuesday, Probably won't make it back into work again after today until Wed maybe......(I do work from home though). I saw a couple of Oil tankers struggling this morning (they refused to go up a slight slope), I thankfully got some oil at the begining of December so am OK for now.
