Well the Met Office invent gives me snowfall from 3-6am, can anyone tell me if it is worth setting to alarm clock, or is that "yesterdays news" as the winds don't look like turning east now?

The sign of a true enthusiast - setting the alarm! :acute:

Ah ... the streamer is dying out now its edging closer to me, but look what's brewing north of Kent :acute:

hmm, and more after that as well. Could be a long night and I'm starting to doubt that I will be able to get out at all tomorrow!

Agree with you there Paul, looks like the rest of the region will have to wait until the front approaches for some more general snow.

Looks like some parts of mid-Kent down into E.Sussex are going to have some pretty deep snowfall come late Sunday.

Lets not forget too, that there will be some significant drifting as well as the NE/ENE wind begins to strengthen.

Some blocked roads in that neck of the woods I would've thought.

Regards,

Tom.

Quick question - anyone know why the showers in the north-east are keeping their intensity as they make landfall and move inland, while the ones in East Anglia earlier died out as soon as they moved past the coast?

Margate & Herne Bay copping it i'd say. Anyone up there on the coast?

They've had 2-3inches snowing there heavy as it is here

Wind convergence zone running SW-NE across Kent I think, looking at the wind obs atm. Continual uplift of air where the winds meet keeping shower train going.

why ignore it?

Because the graphics on bbc weather are not completely accurate , for example the last two days it's shown rain here.

Also

The BBC forecast has just suggested a temperature of -12 with rain tonight here

I'm in Addlestone :shok:

I eckon we'll get something from all this... expect the unexpected... Blast from The Past (Fred) who's from Redhill has said on the model thread to expect some upgrades for the south east last minute for the weekend. His methods are different to conventional meterology I think, but it has been quite accurate in the past :p

Well Mr McElwee on the BBC forecast at 10:35pm said the snow on Saturday evening and into Sunday would be largely for a specific region he not only said coastal Suffolk/Essex but through into Kent/Sussex's and SE London and the Graphics showed this as well, so this appears to show a streamer but as we all know for that to set up in this area the wind will HAVE to be near NE or just east of north but no mention of rain/sleet on coasts although temps would be around 1-2c.

I think it was the BBC forecast after Newsnight rather than the website, but I agree the graphics are useless up to short range

Well, I don't think the Northerly element in the wind is swing it around quick enough for here. But there's another just behind it!

(Bugger... got de ja vu typing that!)

Should be snowing in Southend East and Shoebury within the half hour, latest radar looks good, think I am just too far west, better showers coming onto the Suffolk Coast near Aldeborough and nice ones up near Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

That big blob seems like it's heading southwards rather than south westwards like the previous ones, but I'm uncertain that will be hitting Dover... but looks like more out in the north sea for some smaller ones here

Temperature Differences are Staggering if you are in the clear skies and out of the showers, Manston Reporting 1c whereas just West along the Estuary we have -6c and Clear Skies!

Lovely looking lump coming into NE Kent heading towards E Sussex. Splendid. Been snowing here for the last hour or so. Another 3cm according to the boy who claims to have found one part of the garden that he hasn't yet made a snowman from.

I signed up for a month of the NW radar today....has anybody else found that even despite the 10-15 minute delay on getting the latest update, the actual snowfall takes another 10 minutes or so to arrive? I suppose snow takes a while to fall :good:
