Min of 3c last night.

Clear and sunny to start then rapid cb development resulting in many showers now but still some large blue sky areas.

Just had a very heavy downpour of sleet, soft hail and pea sized hail that briefly whitenened the ground.

Temp dropped from 9c to 4c during shower. :lol:

It is spitting with rain with the sun out. The sun is warm without the wind.

Cloudy start at 7.am which has now broken up allowing for rapid convective cumulus development. Some pretty beefy looking clouds as I speak, which is quite unusual for clouds of that size so early in the day. :shock: Looks like a few storms a distinct possibility this afternoon into early evening?

Today is the exact opposite- it's dry and cloudy.

Theres quite a few showers dotted around here now, I can see a couple to my north and east.

The rain and hail shafts are clearley visible just a few miles away, its a pretty spectacular sight.

BUT!

To my left, and I only mean about 1/4 mile away, if that, I can see a torrential rain shower, it's so bizarre. Bright sunshine all around the cloud, but torrential rain in this one place.

After yesterday's uncharacteristic fireworks, today's weather on the Tyneside coast is the usual.

Dull all morning, sunny all afternoon, sun and showers everywhere except along the coastal strip extending from Tynemouth to Sunderland.

And Lancaster University is currently having sun and showers too, according to the University webcams.
