FACTOR 3!!!

Has been snowing lightly here in south liverpool for about an hour and is getting heavier now, showing signs of sticking!

I was expecting sleet and rain so I'm made up! Is it really going to carry on until 6 am tomorrow.....?

That's what the charts suggest, yes.

Yes, you'll get some snow, it may settle for a while but it isn't going to be very deep and isn't going to last long into tomorrow.

Interitus, where are you? Is it snowing there too?

Well the charts say 3-4 inches.

Good enough for me?

Backtrack - the GFS shows yellow and green over us, but I always look for red for snow. What do I need to look for in future? Do I need to compare with other charts?

No. Take no notice of the GFS snow risk charts, they are very un-reliable.

The easiest thing to do, is to look at the min/max temps, upper temps, pressure, and where the precip is to forecast snow, although this is a basic way, and not the most accurate, in an event like this, it's your best bet.

I bet you don't get 4 inches of snow in Runcorn!

Me neither, 3 sounds better.

Seems to be a gap in the band. Hopefully it intensifys or no where will get anything out of this.

Thanks. I'm learning a lot this winter!

I'll report back later when we get to 3 inches........ :)

:winky:

No chance yet, precip is far too light and there seems to be a very large break in the precip.

Why is our thread so dead? Do people not look out of the window these days? :winky:

This snow is poor lol. Just a I thought it will be like dandruff flowing in the air. Only chance is the back edge but that may be of rain, anyone expecting 2 or even 3 inches is having a laugh!

West is best. :D

Well the radars are showing quite intense precipitation over Warrington now but is certainly only light snow at the moment - I'm not convinced that it isn't even a bit sleety to be honest.

It's Factor 0 here ATM.......

:winky:

Factor 1 here now. Downgraded from starting to become heavy snow.

I estimate 1 hour before it turns very heavy and sticks, and I estimate 7 hours before the melting process starts.

We had very light snow about an hour ago, but then it stopped and hasn't started again (yet!). The radar shows a break in the front that's coming over. Personally, I'm not expecting too much - but will hopefully be pleasantly surprised!

There's a break in the band.

Give it half an hour, and you will see very heavy snow.
