UK Outlook for Friday 11 Mar 2011 to Friday 25 Mar 2011:

The main emphasis during this period will be on rather unsettled conditions progressively affecting the north and west of the UK, and drier, brighter conditions affecting the south. Temperatures on the whole should be around normal for March for most parts of the UK, but perhaps initially below normal in the south and well above normal at times for northern Scotland with milder, wetter conditions here. Rainfall totals are likely to be above average in the northwest, mainly western Scotland under the more unsettled conditions, but slightly below in the south with the drier conditions. Sunshine amounts across the country are likely to vary, but mainly stay around average.

UK Outlook for Saturday 12 Mar 2011 to Saturday 26 Mar 2011:

This period should see unsettled conditions at first with occasional rain or showers and drier interludes, but there is a signal that high pressure will return and build across the UK, turning things mainly dry with bright or sunny spells, but often mixed with variable amounts of cloud. Rainfall amounts may be below or well below average for the time of year due to the drier conditions, and temperatures should be around normal. Sunshine amounts across the country are likely to vary due to variable cloud amounts, but should be around average on the whole.

UK Outlook for Saturday 19 Mar 2011 to Saturday 2 Apr 2011:

A relatively settled period, with high pressure slightly favoured over the near-continent, keeping the most likely focus of more unsettled weather towards the northwest of the UK. Much of England should see well below average rainfall amounts, with Scotland and Northern Ireland likely to be nearer the seasonal norm. Whilst most of the country should see near-average temperatures, eastern England will perhaps fall a little below normal overnight, with more in the way of drier and clearer weather and consequently slightly more common overnight frosts. By contrast, the expected cloudier conditions for Scotland should keep night-time temperatures here a little above normal for early spring. Sunshine amounts for the period show little departure from typical values, being around average across the country.

UK Outlook for Saturday 2 Apr 2011 to Saturday 16 Apr 2011:

Initially, southern parts of the UK should continue to have some drier and brighter conditions, but unsettled weather further north is soon expected to spread southwards and affect these areas. Rainfall is likely to be above average with a risk of sleet and snow across northwestern Britain, and this will render sunshine amounts slightly below normal. Temperatures should be around or slightly below normal at the start of the period but become rather cold with time.
