UK Outlook for Saturday 16 Apr 2011 to Saturday 30 Apr 2011

The second half of April looks to see a general change in weather type, with more changeable and unsettled conditions compared to the start of the month. Temperatures for the period look to exhibit a north-south split, with much of Scotland and Northern Ireland on balance seeing below or well-below average temperatures for mid-spring, though also seeing some significantly warmer days at times. England and Wales will be nearer-normal, possibly creeping a little above at times in central England. Rainfall amounts should be around typical countrywide, with Northern Ireland possibly seeing a little less rainfall than usual, whilst the opposite side of the UK and East Anglia may be slightly wetter. Despite the spells of rain, much of the country should see average or a little above average sunshine hours.

It seems to me that the met office are suggesting a northerly type airflow for the second half of April.

UK Outlook for Thursday 28 Apr 2011 to Thursday 12 May 2011:

It will be a settled start for most areas, with a good deal of fine and dry weather. Temperatures will be above average for most and winds will remain generally light. However, the chance of more unsettled conditions spreading into western parts will continue. As the period progresses through May there is an increasing signal for conditions to become more generally unsettled, with outbreaks of rain and occasionally strong winds reaching most parts.
