This rain is likely to be heaviest and most persistent across western areas of the UK, with the east most favoured to see some drier, brighter interludes. Winds may also be strong at times, particularly across the north and west. Temperatures, on the whole are likely to be close to or slightly below average.

Interesting, although I would prefer to see this forecast for late November/early December or better still late December/early January rather than late September/early October!

I was going to hold back from saying this and maybe I still should but it'll be very interesting to see whether the Met stick with this cool and unsettled outlook over the next few days as the models seem to be starting to show hints of a trend away from it at the minute.

Whether this is just simply a matter of the TS messing with the models who knows but we'll see.

the anomaly charts all support their idea indeed I've just been writing rough notes and put this-how it will validate remains to be seen?

Noaa

Very similar to last few days but both ridge in west and trough over uk area have been moved ridge 6-7 deg from last issue and trough looks about same amount WEST the –ve area uk area is shown much larger(-120 compared to -60) to last issue-its centre is also moved a bit nne?

Trough over states seems in about same position-one in far west also seems about same place etc

Looking at the 8-14 noaa and the consistency with all 3, and the slight retrogression, it seems unlikely that any pattern change is going to occur before the start of October, how far into it is impossible to say-eductaed guess suggests not before 3/10 and more probably 7/10 assuming it does occur. That does not mean that the weather will stay the same-that is dependent on the position of ridge-trough in the uk part of the chart??
