Afternoon .

Gone a bit dark in Cleethorpes at the moment, quite muggy, interesting cloud formations. Lightning detector showing a bit of activity to the North and west of my location.

Nothing seen or hear as of yet , clouds heading out over the Humber.

Rgds

Just coming to the end of a

20 minute thunder storm here.

Some nice lightening seen and a

short burst of heavy rain.

Much needed.

A sferic has shown up in the cluster of showers in the area, I can see a few tops of CB's but other than that just lots of grey cloud!

30 mins of thunder & lightning here. At least 8 flashes, loud rumbles, seemed very localised. Now appears to be heading eastwards (towards Edinburgh/Fife ?)

Had to get changed(!) after some, er, "over-exuberant storm spotting" which resulted in me getting caught in the resulting rainstorm.

Lol that happened to me once when i was at school like 2 years ago and got caught in a big thunderstorm with stupidly heavy rain but me and my friend didnt care we just stayed outside and watched it all :p

Anyway have seen much convection today as its been too cloudy and breezy, the sun did come out a few times today but even still didnt see any convection

Quite enjoyed the prospects of today, even though the exact ingredients weren't there, for a mid Spring day of showers, it was a pretty good show. Here in Manchester I had a trip up to Rivington Pike with the parentals and saw some stunning cloud structures and some 'proper' rain. Just wish I had my camera with me!

Same! We were walking onto campus and it absolutely poured it down, we were all soaked. The base of the cloud was lit up in an eerie-orange glow from the setting sun.

Quite a few showers here today from late afternoon onwards, and it's currently chucking it down now.

I'm guessing that must have been from the 8 o'clock shower on the NetWeather radar.

Some excellent views of the shower, with some very impressive rain/hail streaks from the cloud base to the ground. A lovely orange glow from behind the towering cloud(s) as well. smile.gif

Amazing anvils to my west, 3 in total, the most southerly one looks like a straight track to Norwich,

Some photos:

Cracking pictures, the anvils did look pretty impressive as they approached :)

Oh my goodness me, there was a shower. That has got to be one of the most scariest news stories in the world. You are lucky to have survived. That devilish shower could have killed you. (Don't worry, only kidding, lol).

The Shower! If that paper came out in the shops, I would definitly buy it.

Talking of showers and storms, I see that there could be a few small storm risks in the next few days. The amount of CAPE, however, looks to be quite low, with some possibly slightly higher values for a time on Friday, particularly around 57 hours on the GFS MLCAPE chart, where the sun is likely to be at its strongest. With high 850 -500hpa Lapse Rates becoming transferred to the South later on Friday, I feel this would be the best day for any convective weather to happen. smile.gif
