Indeed. There seems to be quite a lot of energy being injected in that large shower around the Cheshire and Manchester area.

Just had a really nice downpour here! No thunder so far!

I hope on more convective weather from now on as spring so far has been boring!

And it has my name on it!!!

I am hoping these showers continue to intensify as they push east.

I think they will! I can see a lot of back building taking place!

Starting to rain again here now.

Quite alot of showers developing today from medium cumulus with gray bases and a few lively breezes, one to the west a while ago.

Best for heavy showers so far this month was april 2nd.

Watch out from May onwards then always say thunder in april is a bonus, like last april 15th.

Line of showers developing SE of Bristol - will be keeping a close eye on that as it develops :D

Yes that one passed over here about half an hour ago. Certainly the heftiest of the three I've had so far and made the windows wet too with a slightly stronger breeze.

Doesn't look like much is happening out to the west and southwest of here at the moment though - plenty of stratoform cloud.

Doesnt look interesting at all for us right now. Light showers at best around here and its still dry. I cant even see any convection. Too cloudy now i think.

Some time left though however.

Yes, I don't normally have high expectations for thunder before May but convective weather is also fun!

I am keeping a look on developments over northeast Wales as the flow brings the showers here!

April can actually produce some very pretty convective and quite large clouds but more of the snow shower/soft hail showers I like in april. :D

May 1st 1986 thundery very humid plume aswell.Looks like a heavier shower coming this way.

I do remember one april when convection took place with light winds and some impressive shower clouds back in the late 80`s and some turned thundery also.

Doesn't look any isolated storms will break out just one or two brief heavy showers.

I think "scattered" heavy showers at best today and youre probably very lucky if you,ll get a rumble of thunder out of those showers. Looks as though convection is starting to die away in some places already, probably because of the lack of surface heating, too much cloud for most of the Uk...oh well theres plenty of time its only late April!! :D

Ooh just checked the radar, nasty shower on course for me.

Shower has just arrived and so far 2 rumbles of thunder, but no lightning (I think), wind has picked up and the rain has just started.

Edit: If facebook statuses are to go by there are reports of hail and lightning in the Leeds area, rain started here but has stopped and not much happening atm.

Encountered some torrential rain on the M62 just northeast of Wakefield about half hour ago. No sign of any thunder though but wouldnt be surprised if there were a few rumbles around the area as the rain was intense.
