woah, check on www.xcweather.co.uk, how rapidly the dew points have risen further North over the East Midlands and NE england. My dew is just short of 17c, with a temp of 19.8c now, am i right in saying with the dew point closer to the air temp, the more condusive the air is (electrical) , i think the word im looking for is saturation? I'm a little scratchy as it's been a while lol!

Anyone else noting those sudden (increasingly) developmental returns on radar in the E Channel south of Hants?

Yep,

Seems to be happening almost anywhere at the moment.

France / BB has fired up very quickly.

South of IOW also getting very active.

The stuff over Cornwall isnt doing much, But id expect that to change as it comes further inland and mixes with what appears to be some kind of westerly moving convective zone. Cells are popping up all over the place.

Gonna be a very interesting night, Esp for the SE and E

Im closely watching what appears to be quite convective a few hundred miles of the SW coast. Will see what happens ~2hrs from now.

For interested folk in the Midlands area, have a look at these time lapsed radar grabs....the first one is at 2100hrs, and the second at 2140hrs....Explosive development in the past 40 mins, with cells firing up all over the place...Weather09 & Blizzards have already noted that cell to the SW of Brum...Its starting to pack a punch now, and look at all that lovely development in the South Warickshire/Northampton area!! :drinks:

Can see towers to the south and it is still very very muggy, temps of 20'c still

I can only share the low resolution zoom of our ATDNet returns with you, but it gives a steer for those of you after the current T-storms...

Fantastic lightning show here in Aston le Walls - looking like it's over Daventry way. Fantastic sky and brilliant bright lightning. Distant rumbles - no, make that nearby rumbles and the occasional heavy downpour...very muggy still....I just LOVE thunderstorms!!

I can see the lightning from the storm towards rugby way, to both east and west look very black and towers are shooting up all over the place

some light 'convective' rain here in Norwich about 7.30pm, been dry since but very humid, sticky and overcast with weak signs of mammatus. Am sure I heard a couple of faint rumbles during the light shower at 7.30.

Considering any question regarding London and the South East has been ignored so far, I think we can take that as a great big fat no laugh.gif
