Here in Central England we have had 5 or 6 ground frosts and probably 3 or 4 air frosts over the last 2 weeks, minimum so far on a non scientific car themometer is -3c at 8:30 am.

Nothing too exciting here on the East coast yet. Had to defrost the windscreen the other day, temp around 0 at 8 in the morning according to the car anyway. Really don't know when we will see a good frost here looking at the current charts.

It could be cold tonight, but there's alot of potential cloud out West to spoil that for many such as me!

Could get to around 3C before the cloud comes over. If I am lucky and it holds off until tomorrow, maybe I will see my first (Official) airfrost.

(Official) = My temperature in my signature was an estimate based on my other weather station which seems to struggle more with night time temperatures. I averaged them both out my main WS didn't record the temp. :(

If you don't get one tonight, I wouldn't worry, a lot of frosty weather is coming up!

Last year, we had 0 Air Frosts in November, December had 16!

.

Yes, plenty of oppertunities yet, winter isnt even here. :p

It's unusual for us really to get below -1C in autumn, living close to the coast and with the major warming effect of the Irish Sea when the wind is West. The Irish Sea however gives my location better hailstorms than anywhere in the UK (probably). So I can't complain. :)

Yep, no matter where you live, there is always a positive. I imagine you get some good storm activity being in the NW of England aswell. It's quite unusual to get air frosts here either, despite being in a good place for showers of the North Sea, -0.6C last night here, a couple of miles SW of here in Sedgefield, -5.1C was recorded.

You must get good stuff of N'Wly's though biggrin.gif

Im still waiting for the first air frost of the season here, however its nothing unusual as there hasnt been one in November before the 17th since 1996.

Tonight has a slight chance, but theres quite a lot of cloud around so we'll probably just miss out again.

The lowest so far was 0.9C on October 25th.

On average the first air frost around here is in early November - here in Reading town centre night time temperatures are often not much lower than those in central London. This year we've had one so far and earlier than average (-0.5, 19 October) and narrowly missed our second last night, with a minimum here of 0.1. Reading University, 2 miles SE of here and in a less built up area, recorded a minimum of -0.7, so I expect an air frost was widespread outside the town centres.

Most places in central England close to or at freezing according to xcweather, and we also have the usual locations in Scotland, with Aboyne leading the way at -1C.

If the charts predicted do come off, expect -10C to be breached next week.

I'll send some to you reef, I feel bad for having so many frosts after reading this. The frost on the car was so thick this morning I rolled it into a snowball and gave it to my two year old to play with!!

temp is already only 3 degrees here and the mist is starting to form, quite cold for the time of year.

last couple of nights have also been cold, 3rd night of ground frosts coming up , and 2 back in October, so 5 so far this year.

Not shaping up bad so far, and with this easterly coming up, perhaps we are going to get a cold and snowy winter to remember!

Where as here on the south bank we've had air frost about 3-4 times so far this season, even in early October I woke up to air frost. Had to get the scraper and de-icer out this morning, its already freezing outside looks like its gonna be another cold one. :cold:
