UK Outlook for Monday 18 Jun 2012 to Wednesday 27 Jun 2012:

Unsettled on Monday and Tuesday, with showers or longer spells of rain. The most persistent rain likely in the north, though also possible in the southeast on Monday, where it will turn less showery on Tuesday. Elsewhere, a few showers, but a little less unsettled than of late. Temperatures slightly below average. Breezy on Monday, especially in the south and west. Wednesday to Friday remain changeable, though northwestern parts seeing the most frequent showers and persistent rain, a little drier and brighter in the southeast, though a low risk of some thundery showers spreading from the continent at times. The rest of the period unsettled for most, with the southeast starting quiet, but showers returning more widely later. Temperatures below average, but perhaps nearer normal in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 20 Jun 2012 to Friday 29 Jun 2012:

A quieter spell of weather for most on Wednesday and Thursday with broken cloud allowing some sunny spells and just a few scattered showers. However, in some areas in the north and northwest may still some heavy showers at times, particularly on Wednesday when the far southeast of England is also at risk of some rain. Turning increasingly unsettled in most parts as we go into the weekend with showers or more persistent rain at times, the most persistent of the rain probably across the north and northwest of the UK. Temperatures will be largely near normal at first, perhaps slightly above in the south and east, before falling a little below normal for many areas by the end of the period.

UK Outlook for Thursday 21 Jun 2012 to Saturday 30 Jun 2012:

It will turn increasingly unsettled from Thursday with outbreaks of rain or showers at times for most parts of the UK through the period. These will give some heavier bursts in places with a risk of showers turning thundery. Some drier and brighter interludes are also possible, the best of these are likely to be towards the southeast with northern and western parts probably seeing the heaviest and most persistent rain. It is likely to be rather breezy at times, particularly in exposed areas in northern and western parts of the UK. Daytime temperatures will generally be around average or a little below for most places, although it will often feel rather cool in wetter and windier areas.

UK Outlook for Friday 22 Jun 2012 to Sunday 1 Jul 2012:

Cool and windy with persistent rain and showers for many areas on Friday. Conditions should gradually improve from the south during the weekend, but still some blustery showers around. From then on, conditions stay on the unsettled side, but after quite a wet June for southern parts of the UK, the wettest weather looks more likely to transfer northwards towards western Scotland, which has otherwise had quite a dry month in comparison. So, often wet and breezy across northern parts, with occasional rain or showers elsewhere but perhaps with more in the way of drier and sunnier conditions than of late. Temperatures should continue around or slightly below average for the time of year, but occasionally rather cool during wetter spells of weather, especially in the north and west.

Sounds like a North South split is coming soon then with high pressure moving close to the south keeping it more settled there which is about time with the holiday season getting underway soon

I think you are perhaps beinga touch over optimistic Gavin when I look at the way they have phrased this forecast. Especially so when one then reads the 16-30 day outlook. Even more so when looking at the 500mb anomaly charts which are far from clear what the evolution of the upper air pattern may be by month end.

But we are all entitled to make what we wish of any forecast, we just differ on this forecast it seems.

UK Outlook for Saturday 23 Jun 2012 to Monday 2 Jul 2012:

Rain in northern parts of the UK will clear on Saturday, with most places then seeing a good deal of dry and sunny weather. Some scattered showers are likely though and there is a chance of some more persistent rain arriving from the west on Sunday. Thereafter, the weather is likely to remain rather unsettled for the rest of June and into the start of July. The wettest weather is likely to affect the north and west of the British Isles. Eastern and southeastern areas will probably be drier and sunnier weather, but even these areas will see rain at times. Temperatures are likely to continue mainly below average for the time of year for much of the UK, although southern areas could see some warm weather at times.

UK Outlook for Sunday 24 Jun 2012 to Tuesday 3 Jul 2012:

Showers and longer spells of rain and brisk winds are likely to affect most parts of the UK on Sunday. Western areas have the best chance of seeing any bright or sunny spells later in the day. The weather will probably remain unsettled during the last few days of June and into the start of July, with further showers or longer periods of rain likely. The wettest weather is likely to affect the northwestern half of the British Isles. However, although southern and eastern areas will probably be drier and sunnier weather, even these areas will see rain at times. Temperatures are likely to continue mainly below average for the time of year for much of the UK, although the south and east could see some warmer weather at times.

I must agree with their outlook and its been a pretty consistent one, and one that fits neatly with the 500mb anomaly charts ideas on upper air patterns for the past ?? days, even weeks.

UK Outlook for Sunday 1 Jul 2012 to Tuesday 10 Jul 2012:

Rather unsettled for much of this period. Northern parts will have showery outbreaks of rain on Sunday and Monday, whilst the south and east see some brighter spells, but still perhaps a few showers. As the week progresses, most parts can expect showers or more prolonged periods of rain. The northwest likely to experience the lengthiest spells of rain, whilst southern and eastern areas see the best of any drier, brighter interludes. Also rather windy at times, with gales possible in the far northwest. Into the following week, there is a signal for drier intervals, especially towards the southeast. However, most parts will continue to see showers or occasional spells of more persistent rain. Temperatures mostly on the cool side of average, but perhaps closer to normal in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Monday 2 Jul 2012 to Wednesday 11 Jul 2012:

Monday could start off dry for many areas but rain is likely to spread eastwards going into Tuesday, this generally heaviest over northwestern parts, whilst possibly remaining dry in some southeastern parts. Showers or longer spells of rain are likely to continue through the rest of the week, with a continuing focus on the northwest. This weather may occasionally be accompanied by strong winds, particularly on exposed western coasts and hills. The trend for changeable weather is set to continue for all areas through the weekend and into next week. Occasional showers or longer spells of rain can be expected everywhere, these probably most frequent in the north, whilst brighter interludes tend to favour the south. Temperatures are expected to be close to normal throughout this period, perhaps slightly below.

Tuesday will probably start dry in many eastern parts but rain in the west is likely to spread slowly eastwards into Wednesday, the rain heaviest over west and northwestern parts and lightest towards the southeast. It may be windy at times, particularly on exposed western coasts and hills. Changeable weather is set to continue for all areas through the weekend and into next week. UK Outlook for Wednesday 4 Jul 2012 to Friday 13 Jul 2012:

Rain or showers are likely in many areas on Wednesday and Thursday with a risk of thunder and breezy conditions at times. The north and west will probably see the most heavy and most persistent rain at first, this is then likely to transfer south. There are signs that this unsettled weather will persist, but with perhaps some southern and eastern parts becoming less unsettled next weekend. On the whole, changeable weather looks set to continue into the following week, with showers or rain probable in most areas. Once again, the northwest should see the most unsettled weather, but perhaps this transferring to the east later in the period. Temperatures are expected to be mostly near or a little below normal.
