UK Outlook for Saturday 7 Jul 2012 to Monday 16 Jul 2012:

Unsettled with scattered showers until the end of the weekend. The showers may be heavy at times with a risk of thunder. Some areas may see some more persistent rain. However, there are signs that it could become drier in the west later on Sunday. Breezy in the west, and temperatures mostly near normal, though a little below with more persistent rain. Staying unsettled next week, with further spells of rain or showers, sometimes heavy, with a lower risk of thunder, and perhaps a little less unsettled in the west. Breezy at times. Temperatures continuing around average, or perhaps a little below at times. Thereafter, continuing largely unsettled, particularly in the north and northwest, any better weather towards the southwest. Temperatures close to or a little below the seasonal average.

UK Outlook for Sunday 8 Jul 2012 to Tuesday 17 Jul 2012:

The generally unsettled picture is expected to continue throughout the outlook period. Although all areas are prone to showers or longer spells of rain, initially the focus of the most persistent rain is likely to be across central, southern and eastern Britain, while northwestern areas probably escape the worst of the weather. Through the middle of next week, conversely, the wettest conditions look likely to spread to northern and western parts, with some drier and brighter spells in the south and east. Any rain could be heavy and thundery at times. Continuing changeable right through to the middle of July. Most areas becoming breezy after this weekend, especially in northern and western parts, where there is a risk of coastal gales at times. Temperatures often rather cool in rain.

UK Outlook for Monday 9 Jul 2012 to Wednesday 18 Jul 2012:

The generally unsettled picture is expected to continue throughout the outlook period. Although all areas are prone to showers or longer spells of rain, sometimes heavy, it seems likely that the focus of the wettest weather will initially be northern and eastern Britain and then, later in the week, northern and western parts. Continuing changeable right through to the middle of July. Most areas windy at times, especially around northern, western and southern coasts, where there is a risk of local gales on some days. Temperatures generally rather cool, especially in rain.

UK Outlook for Saturday 14 Jul 2012 to Monday 23 Jul 2012:

The generally unsettled picture is expected to continue. Saturday looks to be a showery day for most, with a brisk north or northwesterly breeze. A drier day for many on Sunday, but still a few sharp showers possible here and there. Temperatures cool at first, but approaching normal in any brighter spells in the south on Sunday. A brief respite from the unsettled weather is possible into the start of next week, especially in the south, but becoming more unsettled again through the week, with showers or longer spells of rain, especially in the north and west, where it will also be breezy. Sunny spells at times between the showers, mainly in the south. Temperatures near normal or a little below, but rather cool in the unsettled west.

UK Outlook for Monday 16 Jul 2012 to Wednesday 25 Jul 2012:

Unsettled weather is expected to continue to affect most parts of the United Kingdom during the second half of July. Although the start of next week may see some drier, brighter weather in parts of the south, cloud and outbreaks of rain will probably affect most of the UK by mid-week. Similar conditions are expected into the weekend with showers or longer spells of rain for many, but also with a chance of some sunny spells. There are some indications of drier, brighter less unsettled weather in the south during the following week, although confidence in this remains low at this stage. It will probably feel cool for mid-July, especially in the west, although temperatures may rise to around normal for the time of year in any drier, sunnier periods.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 18 Jul 2012 to Friday 27 Jul 2012:

Unsettled and changeable weather is likely to continue, particularly at first. However there are signs of a gradual shift of the heaviest and most persistent rainfall towards northern and western areas of the United Kingdom, where it may also be windy at times. There are now stronger indications for drier, more settled weather to affect the south at times through this period, although there is still a risk of some rain, even here, but this is not expected to be as heavy as recently. Temperatures mostly near or a little below normal in the north and west but probably above average at times in the brighter spells elsewhere, with the prospect of some pleasant, more seasonal conditions at times, especially towards the southeast.

UK Outlook for Sunday 22 Jul 2012 to Tuesday 31 Jul 2012:

Showers or longer spells of rain affecting the north and west through Sunday and Monday. This will spread southeastwards but possibly not reach the far southeast. Temperatures will generally be around average, but a little below in persistent rain. Through Tuesday and Wednesday, a north/south divide is expected to become pronounced, with wet and occasionally windy weather in the north and drier weather in the south, where some sunshine could raise temperatures to the warm side of average. This weather pattern, for the UK as a whole, is much closer to the climatologically norm than the cool and wet scenario experienced so far this month. Confidence is steadily increasing for the return to normal conditions to continue through the final week of July.

UK Outlook for Monday 23 Jul 2012 to Wednesday 1 Aug 2012:

Rain will affect the northwest of the UK during Monday, heaviest over western Scotland. This will spread steadily southeastwards later on Monday and into Tuesday, steadily weakening and turning more showery, dying away all together before reaching the far south. On Wednesday and Thursday, there will be cool and occasionally wet weather in the north. Drier weather in the south, where sunshine could raise temperatures above average, even becoming very warm locally. This weather pattern, for the UK as a whole, is much closer to average conditions for July than the cool and wet scenario experienced so far this month. Confidence is steadily increasing for these more usual conditions to continue into the following week.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Jul 2012 to Thursday 2 Aug 2012:

A band of cloud and rain across Scotland and northern England will move slowly southwards on Tuesday and Wednesday, becoming slow moving across central and southern parts, but the rain becoming increasingly patchy. Turning showery to the north. Breezy in the northwest, but locally very warm in the southeast. Thereafter, a good deal of fine and dry weather in the south and east, with warm, sunny spells. Rather more unsettled in the north with bands of rain or showers, which could extend further south at times. Temperatures near normal in the north, locally warm or very warm in the south. As the Olympics draw closer the Met Office will have local forecasts so that everyone can make the most of the Games experience.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 25 Jul 2012 to Friday 3 Aug 2012:

A weakening slow-moving band of cloud and rain across central Britain on Wednesday may affect more southern parts. Northern parts brighter with a few showers possible, and the best of the very warm and dry weather hanging on in the far southeast. Next weekend, there should still be a good deal of fine and dry weather around, but there are signals for more unsettled conditions to spread in from the northwest, with strengthening winds, and temperatures returning to near normal for the time of year. Into the following week, a north-south split looks most likely with the best of the drier and brighter weather in the south. As the Olympics draw closer the Met Office will have local forecasts so that everyone can make the most of the Games experience.

UK Outlook for Thursday 26 Jul 2012 to Saturday 4 Aug 2012:

A band of cloud and rain across central Britain will weaken on Thursday, with mainly fine, dry and sunny conditions elsewhere. The best of the very warm weather hanging on in the south, but a chance of some heavy showers moving north from France by Friday or Saturday. At the beginning of the next week, temperatures across the south should be much cooler and there will be some rain and showers around, heavy at times particularly in eastern areas. For the rest of the week, a north-south split looks most likely with the best of the drier and brighter weather in the south. As the Olympics draw closer the Met Office will have local forecasts so that everyone can make the most of the Games experience.
