Well back home now after a great weekend away. Wall to wall sunshine for the whole time, albeit blown away down on the shore line of Holy Loch yesterday help.gif

I think the rain forecast for later in the week could do with falling over the highlands etc tonight to help put oot the fires.

What can I add? Wonderful warm sunny weather, only slightly marred by onshore breezes occasionally. As others have noted, also remarkably low RH values, even here next to the sea where I've not seen it this low this early in the year before. Three lots of washing dried today! I've resisted getting the hose out so far but the rhubarb is suffering and I'm not sure how dry the soil can get before fruit trees might start to drop the tiny fruit...

How did the posh do go at the weekend? I dodged it by turning off all electronic communication devices for three days. Nice wee break.

stunning weekend. warmer day on Sunday but Monday cooler and cloudier, though cloud cleared and a nice afternoon I spent in my shorts in the garden attempting to introduce some colour to my garden. Wall to wall sun today, but cooler wind again.

Things looking to get cloudier from ?Thursday onwards? Seem going to stay dry here but (probably needed) rain for west and southern areas it looks like?

Looking like rain should hopefully reach many areas thursday into friday. Really needed now with the fires becoming a serious problem.

Weekend looking warm, but as noted by others, thunderstorms are likely to be around.

I just come back from my SQA Standard Grade Maths Exam. I found General easy but Credit hard (harder than the past papers). I am hoping that the pass mark will be dropped. Anyway, it's a glorious afternoon here. Sadly, it looks like it is set to move away.

Ah well, it was nice while it lasted. Summer's fizzling out with pale sunshine this evening, back to the usual I need to control my languagee tomorrow.

The censor needs to take a running füĉk as well.

Another lovely day but as noted, a wee bit cooler. Started my lawn repair a week ago, and resisted any watering as still a bit damp, but a shower or three won't go amiss. Wonder if it's worth getting my new BBQ delivered this weekend.

My lawn looking bit patchy due to the cold winter and dry spring. Back to the above for me too

I think there could be thunder right now. I'd like to know that when there is a thunder clap is there always lightning with it?

I'm sure they give the odd little grin now and again! :whistling:

This fine steady rain is the sort we want but it has stopped now. Unless we have several hours it will barely touch the surface. We need a continuous downfall to make a real impact and prevent further fires from breaking out.

Fires down in Lancashire have continued to smoulder underground in the peat for seven days, and I am sure they are desperate for heavy rain. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-13290396

Current temps cool at 12C

The farmer I met this morning up near Portmahomack was the rudest I've ever met. 'Get orff moi land' type in a Rangerover. Good job I was in uniform or he'd have been eating cow poo.

Nice to see some rain but is this the start of the real summer?

If my memory is correct an actively growing cereal crop has an uptake of about an inch of rain/water per week so over the next 9 or 10 weeks will need 10 inches or so especially if there was already a soil moisture deficit in April so todays rain only laid the dust and washed the leaves.

I don't know much about farming but the rain today is just going straight into the trees/plants. They are blooming before our eyes, quite amazing to watch.

Reached 15.4c here with some sunshine in the afternoon. First rain yesterday in weeks but just 1mm. Another 2mms fell overnight but that still only gives me a total here of 10 mms since the beginning of April.

More later tonight I expect and some warm temps tomorrow.

Mild night, wind dropped......temps 15C at almost 11pm. No rain today.....ground dried up very quickly.

Majority vote No to AV. SNP back in power and not dependent on any other party to support them. Interesting times ahead.

Yes, back to dry ground here, with tomorrow looking warm and dry too.

Whither Scotland? Will England & Wales get 'independence from Scotland' referenda? Recent nationalist movements in Europe have not been pretty in their final stages... National Socialism anyone?

Sort of pleasant morning, just trying to decide if BBQ worth a risk later. Currently 19c and feeling muggy already.

Definitely something brewing today, air has a crackle to it.

Very warm, the strong sun will be loading that cloud sheet with potential

A couple of spectacular lightning flashes last night

How is everyone ?
