Nothing from the usual UK sites today so far, did hear the local BBC weather girl mention a rumble or two likely later - not too sure about it though.

Looks to be a French thing again:

I'm in London today, so maybe I'll drive back through some interesting skies?

That tiny area of potential is slap bang over my house...sadly, as ever, I'm in C London and will probably get texts from my mates later saying "we've got thunder here"...always the way!

Can't complain though as did get thunderstorms on Thursday :D

Lots of big fluffy cumulus here. could definitely turn to storms if the conditions remain right I reckon.

We've just had a small hail shower in London out of what looks like fair weather cumulus!!!! Some of the hailstones were larger than pea size and to be honest, I'm rather dumb struck :cc_confused:

Bloody good precursor for later though!

V loud thunder clap in C London, almost certainly from a +ve bolt (scared the life out of me!!!)...can only see a VERY small Cu above the office, doesn't look remotely thundery at all....after the 2 min hail shower earlier (from again, a very fair weather looking sky) I'm left baffled!!!!

But hey ho :yahoo: I'll take it

I see it - very small Cb just developing overhead and drifting ESE. Didn't drop any rain/hail here though. Another en route looking at the radar, dropping v intense precip :D

EDIT - Cb looking little more defined now, but VERY VERY localised...small anvil on it with some weak (but large) mammatus on the underside...looking increasingly dark at the base.

Sky going very dark to my WNW, beefy (albeit very small) cell looking on radar...have to say it's one of the more peculiar thunder days I've witnessed now for a very long time, perhaps of all time :cc_confused:

A shower currently passing through here, depositing some fairly large rain droplets and pea-sized hail.

Looking at the sky and the radars, it really could do anything today.

Well apart from snow obviously.

Fairly high cloud bases with these showers, clouds are bit dry looking here, kent look best placed for today for hail and small cbs

Lots of TCu around Norwich at present, a few of them developing into Cb, with some sharp-looking showers about, though only had a few spots so far. After what Harry and others have noted, I have the window open listening out for thunder.

Caught me by surprise I can tell you! Though it's the only clap I've heard today, can't see any of the lightning detectors have picked it up though :cc_confused:

Scratch that, I see the NW detector has picked it up, plus another over NW Kent shortly after
