It's been mostly sunny and warm in Norwich, a cool NE breeze, and some altocumulus castellanus, which included a showery-looking cloud to the west around 1pm but no showers at Norwich itself.

However, the wind has picked up in the last hour and we're now getting patchy low stratcoumulus spreading in from the NE- I think it's a matter of time before this turns into a continuous sheet of Sc judging by the satellite images.

We've done very well today compared to places just to our east on the other side of the Pennines. Plenty of sunshine and little cloud right up till now even. Only in the last 5 minutes is there signs of the thicker cloud encroaching from the east and shrouding the fell tops.

Winds will change in direction tomorrow and I suspect cloud will be much more in evidence and reluctant to shift, not sure whether we will see any showers but of we do I expect they will be sharp and slow moving. Its been dry here since last sunday so we can't complain too much about the impending rain/showers.

What time did it set in in Telford? We managed to keep the warm sunshine until about 3pm, but I could see that grey mass to the E and SE from 10am onwards. Maxed at 27C but dropped dramatically once the murk encrosched, culminating in an hour or so of quite heavy rain around 5pm. No thunder or anything, and the temp dropped down to 18C. It's a strange cold front that arrives from the SE in June?

There was also lots of virga visible, including underneath the edges of the great murk sheet before the rain arrived. That Cloudspotter's Guide man would have been in heaven here today!

Arrived here just over two hours before you, was very slow moving though indeed.

Only reached 22c here but would of been far warmer if the cloud had held off, only had a few spots of rain in the air here aswell.

27c seems too high? Is the sensor catching the sun or other heat sources? Not many got above 25c today and certainly not around here. 22c Max in Shawbury so cant see a 5c difference in a relatively short distance. However a very warm one it was again.

Indeed it went down to 22-23C within half an hour of the sun disappearing, and going by the satellite that front (?) seems to have moved very quickly NW until about 1300 when it slowed down, leaving cloud just to the E, SE and NE of here while we kept the sun. I was prepared for cloud from 12 onwards the way it was moving at 11.

Never expected rain though- where did this feature spring from?

It does seem a bit high going by nearby reports, but it certainly felt like 24-25. Cooler than yesterday for certain though. Shawbury probably got the cloud a good 1-2 hours before us, for about an hour it was sunny on the west side of Shrewsbury and cloudy on the E.
