I know Sprites it's my phone, it posts double when I refresh the page. It's really frustrating. Anyway lots of convection now after hail shower earlier.

Great to see reports coming in - I thought there was little chance today, some lovely cloud formations around here with good sunshine so a day to be out and about to appreciate it

So storm risk for all of UK today like yesterday? Should convection be better than yesterday or a similar scenario?

Well it won't be for the Northeast of England with the huge cloud and rain mass slowly creeping in off the coast. Never mind there's bound to be other days :D

From my limited understanding, I think it's a similar set up. It's a day to keep an eye on the radar though.

Oh ok thanks, that was what I was thinking. Had a couple of near misses yesterday but no storms yet so hopefully today may be the day whistling.gif

Aye it is similar to yesterday though convection today may be more intense in some places, definitely going to be keeping my eye on the radar today.

Quite a few showers pepping up in western areas now.

Had a load of heavy downpour yesterday evening between 6pm and midnight, and again there were a few small funnels the bottom of each shower in daytime was green, was strange.

One of the showers was rather quite torrential and i was out in it at bowls and got soaked lol

My phone does that sometimes, some large cumulus here, maybe heavy showers later.

Well, accoring to 'will it thunder' my storm potential has more than DOUBLED from the 05hr update.

Just a shame it went from 6% to 13% ;)

:D

strike alert just picked something up at 6 to 12, might be a false positive as I can't see anything on the radar at that range.

keep watching- radar showing rain appearing around your location now. convection seems to be really getting going now, big black cloud just formed above me in about 1/2 an hour then rained briefly

Rain is starting to intensify up here now, probably wont electrify but we can hope... Just been to the shop and I swear with the wind and rain it feels like January out there it's ******* freezing! :wallbash:

EDIT: It's hoying down now, no sign of thunder but wind has really picked up....

just heard a close sferic on the radio. Cumulus clouds building. You see anything on your strike detector Tim B?

and another sferics

No my detector is not picking anything else up though its accuracy becomes less reliable above the 25 mile range, there is a sharp shower over manchester at the moment, this might be generating some activity.

If not then you might be picking up atmospheric bounce from the activity around cardiff.

Plenty of dark clouds to the northwest while we sit here in the warm sun on the patio. Passed 20C a few minutes ago.

All the early convection has been replaced by almost wall-to-wall sunshine...
