The outside broadcast tv vans transmit a signal from wimbledon to a satellite 35000km's away

over the equator .... unless the first 10km's is blocked by heavy rain!!

If its a blue screen, that will be your sky box loosing its satellite reception for exactly the same

reason.

If i remember correctly, the satellites only transmit 35 watts. (Less than most cb'ers did in the 80's).

Nope it's deffo black screen, not blue. As a side note, rain has just started again here quite heavy!

OK daytime has been replaced with night. Thunder and lightning in Reigate.

Yes the same here, i seem to be on the tip of a storm now. Very dark with heavy rain and rumbling.

And I'm guessing that it will be right over head when i leave for the school run :help:

Just caught a CG to my south! Probably about 3 miles away over towards Mill Hill/Hendon way. Rain light now.

EDIT: Scratch that, it's tearing it down again.

So much for the Wimbledon roof. Raining outside and starting to come in (albeit over the spectators.)

Thunder and lightning has become less frequent for the time being but looking at the radar, I wouldn't be suprised to see some more soon! Still heavily raining though.

Apologies for the daft question: I really want to go out in the storm - any advice for safety? Raining heavily and skies have darkened in Uxbridge now, with some nice rumbling thunder as I type. Yes, I too will get soaked for the school run - do tyres really earth a car?

Gone very 'calm before the storm' here.

Constant rumbling in the distant now.

if there is any justice in the world we will get a good storm. COME ON!

Ohh also Thunder coming from my West - towards you guys in Chatham/Sheerness. This is on to of the South East one and even some due south of me. Think I'd better get me birds in off the lawn; don't think they'd enjoy being out in this much when it kicks off!

Thunder heard in Leigh as well!

Is something developing then, if Wickford and Leigh can hear thunder. From whereabouts is that coming from. Looking at 13:45 radar on Raintoday.?

Very heavy rain falling now, very large drops too. Thunder can still, be heard as it drifts out to sea

The whole frontal zone seems to be exploding!!
