I didn't see anything on the 7th, might of heard a distant rumble of thunder, but could have been mistaken for a passing lorry.

Well there was nothing overhead but there were at least 3 thunderstorms within a 5 miles radius W and E of here which made for some nice photography if not a direct hit. I'm sure if there was an overhead event then it would've been the first major convective day with results since about September 23rd last year.

I remember that date too it was a Friday, very hot with a huge anvil to the S.W. all evening, the edge of the storm was almost vertical with regular updraught pulses, and the anvil trailed away to the N.E. the cirrus plume from this was probably over the norfolk coast! , hail around luton was reported to be 80-90mm.

i know the feeling, the last supercellular storm i remember was back on the 7th June 1996, hot day 30c then buy evening continous lightning, gusty winds, hail, these were the all nighters. The storm tracked from west to east hitting hampshire and oxford area then towards london, and i remember my dad telling me to get away from the windows as it was so severe. if anyone could get a archive grab of the cells that would be great for everyone to see.

T-Storms forecast for Friday here by the BBC.

I know and another round of nothing 0: But this coming thursday night and friday has thundery potential 0: how often do we say that!Today we do have a risk of some thunder in downpours, maybe a storm but it depends on conditions later, so cant really say for sure, but i would say a risk of an active storm cell across central south then southeast and maybe east anglia today. of course we could see storms elsewhere today with other areas higher risk. then we watch for more activity evolving late today for eve and night and friday for some! Nice vid there.

Also not sure where to post this now you can't post in daily threads after that day has passed, but a friend on the Wirral said yesterday he had ''Tornadoes, hail, lighting, thunder, flooding everything!'' apparently he had 2 funnel clouds/tornadoes/waterspouts.

Funnel clouds/tornadoes confirmed by video/photos he put on Facebook, the condensation funnel doesn't reach the ground but you can see sand swirling around the base of it on the beach so the circulation did touch down.

Looks like a bit of a break coming up as high pressure moving this coming week, with nothing interesting storm-wise on the horizon for now.

Unfortunately not Lauren !sad.png I saw a couple flashes of lightning light up the sky about 10 miles away , but no thunder and the lightning was about 10 minutes apart.cray.gif
