Heavy showers building to the north and west of Cleadon at the moment, haven't heard any rumbles of thunder but it certainly looks interesting, with the convection zone having extended north into Northumberland this afternoon. Remarkably I haven't caught any showers yet today!

Well so far today the heavy rain and storms have stayed away but there is still hope and the Meto have a warning in force for tomorrow as well

Just checked rain today and the track of the rain will miss here completely :cc_confused: . Not good news

Judging by the radar, a few building and moving into London at the moment, to coincide nicely with the rush hour!

Just taking a break from cutting the grass. Glorious Day here and beautiful view of Cb's to my West with clear blue skies out to Sea! Think Southend On Sea might be one of the warmest in the country today, certainly hot in the clear blue skies overhead  :hi:

I see some very large anvils way way off to the north, however it's lovely! :D

Just moderate rain falling here out of a totally grey and featureless sky (As). Radar indicating that, at least for my part of the world, the cells are starting to lose their intensity. Still very humid though (93%), temp 16C and a very light SW wind.

Heavy rain, no longer torrential, and any electrical activity has diminished, so although I heard some distant thunder before its just plain rain now.

Now officially out of the no storms club, 45 mins of torrential rain, 6 or 7 lightning bolts and lots of thunder drinks.gifdrinks.gifdrinks.gif and still the chance of more!

Stunning sky there Paul, I'm guessing your area must be in the long, narrow clear slot shown on this Satellite image ...

post-107-0-43528000-1311090506_thumb.jpg

And to view the 16.00 Met Office radar there is an equally clear narrow and long line of downpours immediately to the East of the clear slot ...

post-107-0-94641100-1311090591_thumb.gif

These are classic examples of convergence zone activity, similar to what occasionally happens in my area when a sea breeze from the South meets a breeze blowing from the land.

Edit : sorry, maybe the Met Office radar cannot be copied/pasted as an image.

Seems like this mornings indicators had this one almost spot on, well done to all the forecast organisations and the people who oversee the models!

Haha I will try, but seriously some how it has managed to miss your location completely, storms to your north, east and west yet there is a nice dry area near you lol I feel for you, looks like your going to be hit by some nice light-moderate raingood.gif

I realise this thread is for today's activity, but looking at the forecast of the surface pressure charts on the MetO website, could the trough predicted to move south/SW on Thursday finally mean something for my area around Bristol? Forgive me as i'm no expert or anything, just wanted to get some of your opinions and info of any CAPE/Li values for thursday!

Are you sure that wasn't Matt Baker? unsure.gif Perhaps he meant a line of intense grey cloud

with zero activity....

WOW!

Just gone outside and within 20mins this large cloud is towering upwards and also tons of birds flying in circles. Me thinks there is a thermal which is also helping the clouds grow skyward!

Not sure if we will get anything here though, it's getting late :wallbash:
