At last some cold and frosty weather to make it feel more like winter!

About time but very welcome regardless of timing.

Wunderground shows well how variable the low temperatures are.

On the coast Whitby and Scarborough are well above freezing, and some more elevated inland sites are much warmer than noted frosty spots like Pickering (near malton)

A lovely winters day with blue skies sunshine and frost lingering in sheltered parts all day. Temps quickly dropped at the sun set and we now have a widespread air frost, temps could get down to -4 degrees overnight and I'm expecting the frost to linger more thicker for longer tomorrow with a mx no higher than 3 degrees.

A great weekend ahead for getting out and about after 4 hopeless ones on the trot - shame there is no snow about on the fells - winter walking conditions would have been ideal. I do think February though will deliver the winning combo of deep snow and blue skies and sunshine.

I'm off the upper wharfedale in the dales for a walk tomorrow - looking forward to ideal winter conditions with light winds.

It was -3 here at 7:30am this morning and we still have patches of ice and frost in areas sheltered from the sun.

A beautiful, crisp day and to be followed by a freezing night tonight.

Be nice if one of the Forum Hosts/Mods or experienced forecasters could give us an update on how the upcoming cold spell might pan out for us :good:

Ive got this feeling in the bottom of my gut though that Ian Brown is going to be right, i think we might have missed the boat now.

People who are saying we've 'missed the boat' need to shut up.. there's February left, which, if I remember correctly, produced a good cold spell down South which nobody complained about even if it didn't last very long.

Now you go and wash your bloody mouth out my boy :nea:

Joking apart you could of course be right, so much disagreement etc.

But as a Newbie but been watching for a few years, my limited experience has taught me that when the models are up in the air then normally that's a good sign.

Not because it's showing what I want to see, but I'd side with the ECM and have done for a couple of days now.

lol don't be like that numpty eugene telling people to shut up. Although I agree with you Aaron, ian brown COULD be right. (Probably not through knowledge but through luck.)
