This is what happened on christmas day 3 years ago when we had temperature of 6/7c and this lot hung on for days!

post-8911-0-12987500-1328291949_thumb.jp

Was quite fun though if only I had had some ice skates lol

Holy sheet! ice

I remember something similar a few years. Was fun to watch cars trying to get up a hill and failing.

To be honest I have given up all hope of seeing anything more than a brief couple of hours of light snow before it turns to rain in my location now!

If a miracle happens the great, otherwise onwards and upwards it is!

Normally now I would be questioning whether we would get another shot what with winter on it's final legs etc, but the one positive I can take is there is strong support for more cold weather to affect us from time to time in the next couple of weeks, and all expert forecasters, including the Met Office predict this too, so we do have potential still!

Patience is wearing thin now, and I'm sure some of us have half a mind on spring now, but I do still feel relatively confident of another shot or two at snow yet!

There are some decent FI charts from various models tonight! Let this weekend pass, watch all the pics on the TV etc of the East being buried in snow, and once the IMBYism on the model thread as died down then perhaps we can start looking at what next!

Good luck to our members in Gloucs and Wiltshire though, you do still have a good chance! As for me, I will be drowning my sorrows this weekend, with rain tip tapping on the window!

Roger j smith confident of snow for us,go look in the weekend snow thread post 293 :good:

I don't buy his 5-15cm forecast for this region to be honest with you. I want to believe it but us snow lovers can too easily jump one persons promise of glory all to easy.

Lets wait for more runs into evening and see.

If it stays clear tonight we will end up with some stupidly low temperatures around here! -6.2c and its only 6.45!! :shok:

I dont want to sound down on it all but i really cant see much in the way of snow for here tomorrow. I just cant.

It seems like the models are insisting that it push through with next to no push back from the east.

I really hope im wrong. But fear I may not be :(

( Considering I was 100% on snow yesterday and the days before. ) It seems like all the ramping from the SEners has scared it off from us.

-5C Lyneham at 6pm :shok:

I know unless we have some cloud cover this evening or a breeze picking up I can see it going alot lower than met offices lows of -7c

its -6.8c already.

Well the ECM brings less cold weather for our region all next week! No snow for us for the next week at least on this run! It does hint at a Northerly at T240 though! Lol!

Lol! Don't forget we still have GP's Greenland high! Got to admit, this is quite frustrating now! Every area of England to the north and east of Bristol will be plastered in snow come Sunday morning, and here in the West Country, we get cut out!

And to top it of, we now have nothing of real support to look forward to next week!

Right, we need to organise a pub crawl in Oxfordshire!

Weather can be so frustrating at times.. I have been hoping for upgrades the past few days for the south west but it doesn't look like we are going to get them and time is running out. East of the region looks like its going to do really well and I'm happy for everyone I just want snow myself :p

I think a big problem tomorrow could be freezing rain/rain falling on the frozen surface. I remember the 1996 event and it was a nightmare!

If we are to avoid going in model thread until they get a full thaw we may be waiting some time going by the models!!! :cray::aggressive:

I do love your optimistic forecasts Paul! If that came off I would be more than happy! Unfortunetly all models show a more progressable situation!

Yes, that is basically the best scenario we can expect, and assumes that the maps will slightly upgrade, and also the fact that when its happening its more widespread than expected due to a few localised issues that the models cant quite determine.

Heres to wishful thinking :drinks:

Back down to -4.8 Really hope it can get lower. We need this air to be as cold as possible!
