Thought the snow had virtually stopped but the tiny flakes are coming down fast enough that the road outside is finally starting to get covered.

All we have seen so far is snow of 0.5-1.5mm/hour, which has been good enough to give a dusting here and that band over the birmingham area which is widely 3-6mm/ hour still has our name on it so looking forward to seeing that around 11/12 tonight! :good:

I will say this, the one positive about being in Lowestoft that if there's any discussions about needing to be east for colder air, I know I'll get cold air :p.

My family all came from Low'stuf and my auntie always used to say that there was a reason why they weren't any big trees!

Hey Pixel Precipitation, I'd be surprised if this turns to rain. I'm off out in it for a stroll down the pub in about an hour. Could be a fun walk home at chucking out time.

PS. Was in The White Horse & Rose & Crown in the village just last week

Good covering here with constant moderate/light snow at times.

Looking at the radar the main event is now just reaching the Nottingham/Leicester area. The peak of this snow event is likely to be around Midnight in the W of this region around 3am for the E.

Overall looking excellent.

My son is at Nottingham Trent uni, he is keeping me updated by text every 10mins or so,

I will pass on his updates.

Next 2 weeks looks promising for UK. :good:

Yep, this snow should last well into the night,

When the front is gone its back into the freezer as well. Hope everyone stocked up.

TEITS, the 24hr FAX chart shows the front stalling and decaying over western parts of EA tomorrow.

In your opinion, will this affect the distribution, intensity or type of the precipitation for us over near the East coast?

Many thanks

Really needs to pep up soon, i was looking in the region of 10-15cm, at the moment i'd be lucky to see 5cm.

Got a while to go yet mate. The main part ppn has to stall and thats later on.

I'm watching the NW radar, the stuff to our west looks huge, I wouldn't worry, well, not yet anyway!

Guys less of the pessimism! It is going to snow, no way are we going to avoid it. Remember the precipitation is waaaay ahead of the actual front itself so initially it will be very light. Heed Weathermaster's post, we are going to be in for a very exciting night, even us in the far east. :clapping:

I like your Avatar Ian. I'm thinking that is Herringfleet Mill. Don't worry about the snow because I have a feeling for once in our lives Lowestoft will be at the very top of the list of heaviest falls tonight and tomorrow. That front is working out perfect for us.

looking at the radar, the intensity is developing and its area is also growing - all heading E.Anglia's way.

All good at the moment!

OMG look at the latest radar. The yellow area is increasing!

Pale green/yellow will bring very heavy snowfall.

Herringfleet Mill indeed! One of my favourite places. Totally agree with you though, this type of event is very rare in Lowestoft and I for one am going to make the most of it!

"getting much heavier now"

He says that there is currently about 3cms laying and that is after approximately 3hrs of continual snow.
