Yeah same here, the Met Office issued a warning much earlier than on Saturday, suggesting to me that they're more confident about this one.

Haha! I'll hold you to that!!! Because its looking like being a near 24 hour precipitation event and it looks more and more like the cold will push further and further west I'm sure that atleast at some stage we will see snow. Probably early hours of Friday morning would be a safe bet.

think south of lancashire may escape worst of freezing rain temp in the south i think by 11am will just be high enough to stop freezing rain but anyone on some higher routes need to be carful but i think north of the region may be making headlines in the morning with the ice

First the sock eating, now the eyebrow shave...working overnight Thur to Fri, will be worth staying up Friday to see how this pans out.

Is the wager snow in Runcorn specifically?

Not going to happen I'm afraid looking at the latest output. Nothing suggests snow at the moment... As mentioned earlier, several boxes remain unticked.

Unless your ambiguous statement includes any of the highest parts of the NW that may see a few flakes mixed in with rain or washed away instantly.... I'd get the mach 3 prepped :D

Nope, NW England. Cheshire & Manchester especially. :D

You don't think I'd make that wager if I wasn't sure now do you?

Most outputs point to snow atm lol.

i'll wager with relatively warm uppers the event will not even match Saturdays here (3 or 4 hours of light snow then rain).

not gonna shave my eyebrows off though if i'm wrong. NAE is showing snow.

Only a few dodgy precipitation type charts show snow tickling the fringes of the NW and not accumulating anything in any case.

Perhaps have a look at the:

GFS, UKMO, FAX, GEM, NAE, HIRLAM?
