Chilly one out there today. If I didn't know what is modelled over the next couple of weeks I would say Autumn has arrived. However, a warm, summer like spell is now upon us!

Did anyone get a frost last night?

Aparrently according to my weather station is got a minimum of 3.7°c last night that was recorded from a Oregon Scientific WMR100N series.

And im not optimistic it was but i do live in the countryside in a valley so it may have been right.

Latitude, welcome to the SW & central

If things are quiet just now, wait until the ice and snow comes (could be a very long wait of course!)

Clearing skies here in North Somerset as that very weak cold front meanders away South across other South-western areas through the upcoming hours. Looking forward to the next 4 days or so of decent weather around these parts.

A lovely start to the day here in the West Country with gin clear skies and light winds. Splendid weather for those farmers to gather in the rest of their harvest over the next few days.

Yes harvesting has been happening quickly around this area, the problem now for farmers wanting to using their combine harvesters is that there is dew until mid morning and again in the evenings - however a run of fine days is certainly long overdue for them!

I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in the South of the county of Somerset sees a touch of grass frost tonight and possibly other deep river valleys too as well as some atmospheric low lying fog in the morning.

Been a lovely, clear sunny day here today.

Only thing I would say is that once the sun goes down, you can definetly feel it is an Autumn evening rather than a Summers evening. Air isn't all that warm away from the sun.

Its another beautiful morning here in the Radstock area. Just some patchy high cirrus clouds and temperatures already up to 13C with little wind. Dropped to 6.9C around dawn but my station is on top of the hill overlooking the town. I'm sure it was much chillier than this down in the valley.

Was a chilly night here too, we got down to 5c, out of the sun this morning it felt wintery, in the sun however much warmer. That is how you know its autumn!

Hazily shining in Wiltshire.

The Cirrus etc is due to the fronts and LOW giving some parts of Scotland a soaking and you may haver thicker cloud nearer the Bristol Channel

due to moisture in the atmosphere.

Would you rather the LOW be 500 miles further South?!

Yes please because that would mean strong winds and convective potential.

It is rather annoying though having pointless cloud take the edge of what could be a lovely sunny day. Just hope all cloud has gone by the weekend as the ingredients are there for it to be one of the best weekends this year for sun & warmth!

The cloud should be less of a feature tomorrow and Saturday as the front over the North weakens and moves back North. Still a nice day though near 20c with enough strength in the sun to offset any major cooling effect.
