Phew! Just spent the last hour unblocking drains etc., the river has gone from being about 4in deep to about 4ft with all the run off from some incredibly intense rain (and we only caught the edge of it here) very squally winds with trees bent almost double,a couple of nice CGs and loud booming thunder as a bonus good.gif

An up to date radar grab for those interested, unless you're in the far North or the far South as I've chopped that bit off. rofl.gif

Looking pretty wet countrywide, it must be said.

Sorry Azores it is "The Low Level Jet"

It is a rare beast in the Uk but can happen on odd occasions but more prevalent in France and Continental Air Masses

........wherever it is I would have thought it best to avoid it, I blame those French air traffic controllers myself help.gif

I know thundery activity is unlikely now, however I can't believe the frequency and rapidity of the bands of showers that have been

and still are streaming up from the South. They have been ongoing ever since the drier slot behind the main rain band which gave

sunshine here between 12-13.00, barely half an hour of dry gap before the next shower/downpour rushes up on the gusty wind.

A recent heavy shower has pushed the rainfall today to 33mm and another looks on direct course in half an hour from now, if it

pushes the total beyond 35mm then I'll have to look further back than 2nd Oct 2010 for the last such wet day!

Showers intensifying when they hit land, pretty impressive!

Tomorrow is looking potentially severe in some places....especially where wind convergence and CAPE overlap somewhat. Shrops, Staffs, Derbys and Cheshire could be in the firing line tomorrow from the looks of things but who knows?

Quite a defined sfc wind convergence zone on 18z GFS for tomorrow afternoon from mid/north Wales NE to the North York Moors, so would expect showers and storms to concentrate in this area:

And with light winds aloft - should be ideal for funnel formation too.

Not expecting any storms here tomorrow, the SE probably becoming dry and sunny by the afternoon after morning showers. Midlands, Wales and Northern England looking best for storms tomorrow.

Looks intersting for here,but... I know I sound like a stuck record but the wigan storm sheild will put a dampner on anything, bet the east gets the cream of the storms again . Seen it all before

Have a funny feeling central and eastern areas will have a lot of showers as well tomorrow, just don't have any evidence to back anything up.

Well, today in my neck of the woods, it turned out to be a very big damp squid! Still, the rain was needed I guess - its a shame most of it ended up down the drains and on its way to the sea or leaking out of the water companies pipes rolleyes.gif
