I'm guessing these severe storms in the Bristol/Gloucestershire area will be much less potent when they reach me in Oxon?

Be good to see another good T'storm, been plenty here in Oxford in the last few weeks.

The line in the north seems to be pivoting between Manchester and Liverpool and as such that area has/is taking a beating... look great on the Radar!

Moderate to heavy rain, quite welcome really, August rainfall totals well down on previous years :)

A second wave of sferics is coming through here, safe to say we're getting an absolute pasting. Been going on for half an hour, I so deserve this!

Another cell in Midwales (Bulth Wells) not linked to any of the lines in the north or south that's got Sferics attached... something for us Shropshire folks to keep an eye on over the next hour or so... (and watch it die!)

Had 1 hour now of Thunder, albeit distant now.

It's still black to my South so I might see a second pulse ..... watch this space

When you say pppivoting, do you mean heading back towards Liverpool again? Ppivoting around what? It's lovely and sunny here, you'd think we were under high pressure.

A556 at A5034 will be the cam to watch for myself, although I can see the TCU shield approaching it's mostly low-level stuff in this confined line that's giving all the action, so about another 45 mins or so yet before it reaches us here in the Peaks.

No the north of the line moved faster than the south so it clears out from the lake district quickly, while its been over Chester and Warrington for some time... its gone from a North South line to more of a North East/South West line but all with an eastern movement...

If you get what I mean!!

The second photo is great... looks like you caught some lightening in it too

I think winds are backing more wnw behind, you can clearly see the orientation of the convergence line shifting.....initially it was more N-S alligned, now it's more SW-NE alligned

The southern flank is certainly slower 'salopwatcher' but the NW to SE movement is winning.

I'll be joining Chris R shortly for some late sun to dry us out !

Yes, in Warrington now we are being affected by cells behind the original one as the band becomes aligned more parallel to the flow.
