I've just been looking at GFS, from the 12:00 update and it's looking like an impressive cold spell for the time of year is coming up. However I can't get too excited by a cold spell this early, except for its relative rarity.

If only it was a month later... smile.png

Yep a nice big greenland high turns up end of next week, just can't help feeling that its a month to early and how will winter pan out.

Yes agree in December that would be a snow fest.

After a rather non eventful day weather wise, a nice sunset.

I think what we have to understand is that our weather patterns are going through a different cycle Since 2007. Within this current pattern cycle November could become the New December.

Just about to say the same..This is in for the night...Adn heavy...

The band of rain should be going up the far east on the UK, but instead is coming much further west...

Flooding an issue now???

Interesting, as the met office expects me to miss out on tonights rainfall , but people are mentioning further west we could get rain, could i be in for a wet night afterall? That precip is is supposed to head north, or north-eastwards. If northwards i would probably get some rain. Going to be interesting how far it advances this way... Thanks.

If your postcode goes 0X3, then yes it's going to rain...

Hi all

If you look at the charts at present

It looks to me as if everything is be shunted too far east. The block to our east is obviously stronger than 1st thought hence the rain tonight being further west than predicted.

Have a run through these

Look at the large atlantic storm

Stall as it comes towards us. Then it heads south and should end up going below us as it weakens. I like this as to m eyes this looks like a sign of a more easterly based winter

These are my thought at present also people thinking its too early for a proper cold spell

Remember this is much much better than that dreaded euro high. Long may that continue

Raining in Reigate and has been for the last 3 hours. Beautifully Autumnal. Would go for a walk to check, but the extra extra glass of Rioja plus the lure of the fire is probably going to keep me in..... and anyway it's raining!

Raining steadily for the past few hours in Reading. NMM forecast was to be considerably further East so all models progged it wrong...

It dont get much better than this for the end of October,As for November only one word springs to mind (WINTER) in all its glory.

As for snow fall "its showing",However we are way to far out for any gauge.Best to start snow watch 48hours out (max) from the cold hitting,Then play it down every 12.smiliz39.gifclapping.gifdrinks.gif

I read on another site that EA has a 60% chance of snow in next four weeks or so. How accurate is that? :o

I expect everything to be further west than shown

I still go snow on or maybe before bonfire night

Nice
