Be surprised if it keeps up any intensity more than 25-30miles inland, we've had a few spits n spots in the wind in the last hour or so, the wind is too slack to push much further inland.

Looking at the radar currently, the best place to be is elevated areas in Linconshire. Lets all go to Lincolnshire Wolds!

GFS update looks waaay more marginal with warmer uppers and dew points for a period. Could be a rain to snow event.

NAE is looking good so far though.

Any reports from Castleford?

Nope, not yet think we have had a bit of rain in the last hour though

The Met Office use NAE, but I'm unsure about its success rate, it hasn't done too well for here regarding rain events.

Flippin eck! The lampost is gonna be my friend for the next few days. MetO forecast has shown rain, sleet, light snow and heavy snow for Monday. Right now it's showing a mix of all of them with heavier snow overnight tomorrow.

Also showing light snow overnight tonight!

Very confusing!

Check the lampost time!

:)

Hm, NAE looking iffy now for most of this region, looks alright for more western areas

Do you know when the NAE updates?

I'd put my bet on the higher resolution models no doubt about it.

As a general rule the NAE has the following tendencies-

- Overestimate snowfall potential

- Poor timing of fronts by generally 2-3 hours (a surprisingly common occurrence)

- Project precipitation on a broad scale rather than pinpointing small features

The NMM

- Underestimate snowfall potential

- Over analysing the intensity of fronts leading to incoherent outputs

Do you know when the NAE updates?

Same, however given my location i always find this thread better, especially being Lincolnshire as well (good to get reports from there during easterlies)!

GFS makes Mondays event more marginal, but i still reckon, especially for those with decent elevation, it would be an all snow event smile.png

Dewpoints at zero, temps 0-1c, mod precipitation, 850hpa temps -4c (very briefly -3c). Marginal but still ok, however we don't want to see this warmer sector upgraded any further.

Have a little faith guy. We in Grimsby are currently having steady snow, be it very wet with temperatures around 1.6 with dew of 1.5. Tomorrow should have better conditions....hopefully.

They'll change tomorrow for better or for worse anyway, so not much point getting hung up on the details just yet.

A few wet flakes here, but mainly light rain. A mate further inland and higher in The Wolds says they've got light snow there though.

Those NAE chart looks great! As do the UKMO and ECM etc ....Lots of precipitation and falling as snow! Yorkshire is a prime spot for this upcoming cold. Lots of precipitation and on the right side of the upper air temperatures. From an IMBY point of view, Leeds generally does pretty poor for snow apart from in an Easterly - too far inland from a Northerly or North Easterly and the wrong side of the Pennines from a North Westerly. The models show a variety of opportunities for snowfall from Sunday through to Thursday and with the cold uppers, I fully expect us to be the right side of marginal each time! Edited by Lakes Tom
