Close run thing for my wettest year.

Currently on 1481mm, another 72mm in 4 days required to top 2008, an outside possibility.

We're up to 105.8mm this month and 847.0mm for the year, 8mm more and it'll be the wettest since 1903.

Fortunately I still take manual gauge records as Ive recently discovered my Davis under-records by 27%, considering its supposed to be +/-4% from the factory its exceptionally poor indeed.

Rained a lot since then. Can we get to 2 m by 9am on Jan1st?

A slow limp towards the 150mm mark for the month pretty confident it will get there but not as quickly as I expected.

We have now just hit 1200mm for month excluding today's rain.

A good chance I think, looks like a wet end to the year for many with another 1-2 inches (25-50mm) of rain come over the hills of NW England and Wales (and more over the highlands).

NAE rain accumulations to the end of the year.

This end of December really has been extremely wet.

Yesterday's rain took the total here to 1377.7mm, 0.8 mm more than the final total in 2000.

The total for the month stands at 196.4 mm so 4.7 mm needed to beat 1986 and make 2012 the second wettest December in the last 35 years.

1022mm here, I don't think there will be much here tomorrow.

That's about 150mm above average, no big deal but since the first three months were very dry it has been well above normal since.

Well according to my Davis station corrected with manual readings where possible as it gave me a few problems this year by over-reading (so hopefully reasonably accurate even if not 100%) we've had 1363.8mm of rain here, at least 500mm above the average and surely the wettest year on record.. and It's gonna rain more today.

This end of December really has been extremely wet.

19.4mm picked up at 9GMT for previous 24hrs. Now need 19.2 mm to reach 2m. Never thought we'd get so near.

Big showers about now but I doubt we'll get enough.

That looks like it for the year. Started off with a very dry first 3 months before a big flip in April with a very wet next 9 months, meaning the year on average finishes quite a bit above average. Not the wettest year on record here, 2008 and 2000 beat it.

Jan: 180 mm (average 225 mm)

Feb: 80 mm (average 160 mm)

Mar: 35 mm (average 140 mm)

Apr: 205 mm (average 100 mm)

May: 90 mm (average 95 mm)

Jun: 290 mm (average 90 mm)

Jul: 140 mm (average 95 mm)

Aug: 210 mm (average 125 mm)

Sep: 100 mm (average 145 mm)

Oct: 195 mm (average 195 mm)

Nov: 230 mm (average 195 mm)

Dec: 335 mm (average 245 mm)

Year: 2,090 mm (average 1,810 mm)

2011: 1,680 mm

Graph including last year for comparison

December not quite stealing November's title as westtest month, but coming a very close second. The seventh out of the twelve calendar months to have 100mm+ rainfall. Staggering. The year has a whole started off dry, with February and March being particularly dry. The floodgates opened spectacularly in April, ending any fears of drought. The rest of the months were exceptionally wet with May and September being the only exceptions with some slight relief in those months.

January: 56.2mm

February: 14.0mm

March: 17.7mm

April 128.4mm

May: 40.6mm

June: 112.5mm

July: 129.2mm

August: 106.8mm

September: 51.5mm

October: 105.4mm

November: 150.7mm

December: 148.8mm

2012 total: 1061.8mm, needless to say, very much above average.

Didn't manage 2m after all...

The record 2012 total has come to 1984.0 mm.

That's 36.6 mm the total for 2000 the previous wettest year.

Now for some sun and drought please.

Good riddance to 2012 the worst year I've known for rain in a long time

The year smashed all previous records for wetness by a considerable margin. 1217.7mm fell smashing the previous record by 151.9mm

Six months passed the 100mm mark previously only five in one year had managed before.

April was the wettest we've ever recorded with 196.6mm. Summer the wettest ever with 397.1mm

Those drought orders seem a very distant memory right now. 2011 only had 569.5mm of rain 2nd driest ever.
