My house is 1mile north of the M25 - lol

Touch and go then - any elevation will help. Suspect East Anglian Heights (NW Essex into NE Herts) could be a sweet spot across the home counties at the moment (I promise that isn't just me being IMBY!) - I go along with Cambridgeshire for overall sweet spot.

Of course the thing to remember is that generally as we start getting the 'wet' snow, you start getting the much bigger flakes - thats a sign to watch out for tomorrow (though this in itself can also induce further evaporative cooling)

I know what you mean, this is SO frustrating. Especially when i thought we'd get a good dumping of the white stuff. Where's the wine?

Exactly!

I hope it continues to edge west and south.

In all the chaos, Has anyone noticed that big blob on the radar heading towards the east coast. looks like it will hit Essex/Kent coasts in the next few hours.

For my location in East Herts when you zoom in on the PPN GFS 0.5 charts it really shows we are borderline for snow/rain during tomorrow afternoon. It does still look like Cambridge and towns immediately to its NE may well be in a very good spot tomorrow. Lucky sods.

Current alert level: Level 3 - Cold Weather Action in one or more regions of England

Issued at: Sunday 13 January 2013 at 09:05

There is a 90% probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions between 0900 on Sunday and 0900 on Friday in parts of England. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services. Please refer to the national Cold Weather Plan and your Trust's emergency plan for appropriate preventive action.

Staying cold with icy conditions across all but the far southwest of England throughout this week although temperatures recovering at times in some western regions. Snow expected to move southeastwards over all but far southwest of England from later Sunday, through Monday and, for the southeast, into Tuesday. Northern and eastern regions expected to have highest snow accumulations with little thaw of lying snow expected. Strengthening easterly winds will exacerbate the cold feel and bring further snow showers to eastern and some central areas.

Why do they use the word 'severe'? Surely 'severe' would be like -20 & blizzards? rofl.gif

It worries me that Cambs is being called the sweet spot.... this usually means Kent will get pasted!

It's been sat there most of the day, only started extending south/south west over the last hour.

hmm interesting...looks like 2 areas converging on Norfolk, although the one out in the North sea looks like it will track south a bit much, turned the animation on and it is intensifying as it nears us :) interesting times ahead, and the radar is great value :)

Yes I am indeed calling Cambridge sweet spot on the basis I never get it right and the sweet spot is 30 miles due South from Cambridge.
