Chemistry GCSE, and Paul, it's gonna pour down, not quite sure where!

Good luck! I hope you have to dig your way out of the exam hall.

The mild sector is forecast to leave us between 6 and 12 so its a case of waiting and seeing.

Reading Liam Dutton's blog, what might help is the lack of wind so any PPN that does fall, it can help bringing the cold air down with it, very marginal though but the snow level SHOULD drop during the day as uppers get cold colder as the day goes on BUT will we have PPN over us?

Interesting, the webcams look very snowy in Grasmere and Ambleside, but wet in Keswick with a sign of a thaw even on the fells. I wonder what has caused that, I don't think the altitude is much different.

Got negative temp and dp here and radar looking very nice and improving every time I look. Already a good covering from last night so bring it on. Looking good for a long cold spell according to models forum.

The 0830 radar looks good, it seems as though the band is becoming slow moving and quite intense.

Snow or rain by 10am I think in Newcastle.

Would like to see the southern part of the band intensify a little bit more, even if it starts as rain, i am a little more hopefulit will turn to snow going by the reports in Manchester for example.

Remember people, the uppers are forecast to get marginally colder as the goes on and temps are around 0 - 1C. It is a case of waiting and seeing what happens but I won't be too disheartened if it was rain at first.

Well I haven't woken up to much snow. After going to bed to full cover I've woken up to see that the snow has melted on concrete and tarmac, with only cars, roofs and grass having a thin covering. Foggy as well.

Looks like it's intensifying, it's rather thin so it'll be dependent on bending back at noon or so.

Could be here at Tyne and Wear for 0930/1000.

I would imagine it will start to backbuild itself and stall as the shallow low coming down from just to the North of Scotland heads through the UK, question will be, will it stall over our region, the GFS seems to think so.

Although I was saying the uppers will get colder, that was before I looked at the GFS which still had the mild sector but its snowing apparently in Manchester so you never know I guess, really touch and go but I still predict rain/sleet turning to snow event.

Look at how slowly the front is moving now - it could take a few hours to move through at that rate.

Snowing very very slightly here also now.

Edit: I hope the backedge starts to slow down and starts to backbuild like it is in Northumberland, it would sum our luck if it only lasts just over an hour, fingers crossed it does not but its a little touch and go.

It doesn't look as wet as yesterday, the flakes aren't melting straight away.

The 0930 free radar looks very good for Tyne and Wear, about 3 hours of heavy snow by the looks of it.
