Could be very marginal here on the coast with temps around 1.7ºC and Dew point at 0.5ºC. I suspect the dews will fall as the ppn moves in though.

Yep, light snow in Newton Aycliffe. Proper sized flakes too.

We're looking good to go all over the North East.

The radar reminds me of those (rare) summer afternoons when a line of thunderstorms moves in from the Pennines.

Snowfall now intensified from light to moderate, with good sized flakes. It seems to be sticking quite easily too.

The band will stall but will it stall over our area or the North Sea remains to be seen, I think it will clear the Tyne & Wear area but perhaps hold on in Teesside and Northumberland in particular.

Anyways snow has finally turned moderate now, smallish sized flakes but nice too look at.

What time can I expect to see the front arrive in Middlesbrough?

Might not be for an hour or two looking at the current radar.

It's stalling now, so even if it finally stalls over the North Sea we should get a prolonged spell of snow first, and then of course it is forecast to move back inland tonight.

Intensity has eased somewhat, although its snowing, it does feel a little stop start at the moment, put it this way, nothing has laied and I have seen heavier before.

Slightly heavier now though, but I would only put it as a 3.5 on Isolated Frost's snow rating.

It's the same story here, but I think we want this band to creep in slowly so that we get a longer snowfall.

Getting a bit heavier here - I assume you're about 10 minutes behind me in Pelaw.

Oh yes, much heavier, and its starting to lie :D

people should just be happy that we are seeing more traditional wintry affair IMO after the miserable mild (ish) winter we have had so far....

Snow has now started here on the coast albeit very light and the Dp's are still above freezing so evaporation in full effect

Flake size has improved but I would still keep it as around 3.5 on IF snow rating, or if you want, around the green pixel on the Met Office Radar.

I would say roughly so, so I'll keep a close eye on your posts for sure for updates. :)

I can't remember what his scale was, but its moderate here with big flakes with occasional heavy bursts.

I'm struggling to see how this is going to last several hours - at least here in Durham.
