Sorry to be a part pooper but the latest weather forecast i just watched at 17.57 on bbc news24 showed tonite's precipitation fizzling out before it reaches our area. Maybe the odd flake up in Glos.

Tomorrow's heavier band forecast to be all rain for ALL our region.

I doubt that radar shows a reasonable blob only a few miles away... :)

Put your postcode into the search, that will bring your house up on an OS map, click the zoom out button once or twice and it will take you to a scale which shows contour lines (the Orange wiggly ones with numbers on them). Find your house, see which wiggly line is closest, the number on that line will tell you your height in meters above sea level.

Ah okay, it didn't seem to be showing any of the orange lines earlier, strange! Thanks :)

Try this for height, seems to work OK

Use this to look up the latitude and longitude of your address:

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocode

Then, using the latitude and longitude, use this tool to find the altitude:

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/elevation

Thanks, the other one seems to be working now :)

ECM removes the warm sector for Front 2 tomorrow... -4c uppers (marginal) now over Dorset.

Good move with just under 18 hours to go (will check out DP and WBFL in a bit)

Your in Bridgwater right? Because the temperature was around 3C here about an hour ago, although so was Bridgey (went there to play football!)

I was basing reading on info from Dunkeswell weather station :) I don't have the kit to do it myself.

Ah I see, that's what I have to do, as I don't have the kit to give accurate/detailed info!

ECM regarding Friday offers snow similiar to the GFS Operational;

post-12721-0-14504100-1358102439_thumb.jpost-12721-0-69156600-1358102445_thumb.j

So to summarise

- Light patchy snow tonight and into the early hours before a second band of milder, more organised rain comes in through Monday morning

- Rain for most of us tomorrow, although even at this stage, a little sleet/snow in our eastern counties cannot be ruled out, but this the exception

- Dry and very cold Tuesday to Thursday, outside chance of a flurry in eastern counties. Low night time minima

- Atlantic assault possible on Friday, detail very uncertain at this timescale so I won't go further for now

Now, I'm off to the Harvester for a spitroast. Thanks.

Indeed, same here!

Seems to me that the ECM is developing the Low earlier and slightly further West (Just to the SE corner).

Resulting in this

post-9530-0-61150200-1358103139_thumb.gi

Thus pulling in -4/-6c uppers faster and further towards the west. Something to keep a close eye, especially the 18z GFS and NAE models. Fax's from the MetO too

Would be nice is the Whole of out region could join in with this, but Sadly just isn't our time just yet. Wednesday looks a little more interesting too with another front moving in from the SW.

Well the radar says something is falling from the sky over my location......but nothing is outside!

If that's what's happening, that sucks sad.png

It would correlate with the radar!

Like others, it should be snowing over me but nothing yet here. Radar says snow...

Ilminster looks like light snow same as me. Sorry cant do radar shot

I've quoted 3 very similar posts, it's not just with snow that this happens, drizzle would be the same.

The air is dry lower down so the precipitation is evaporating before reaching the ground, it doesn't 'suck' , it's a reality

of how the weather works occasionally! If the air wasn't so dry the precipitation would reach ground level.
