Clouds building really well now in Lochgelly with a definite change to a more eastern flow. Some snowflakes just starting to fall here, bring it on!

guys as OTR and Tim saying real proper beefy shower with great covering in 15mins.....this is going better than planned I did not really expect to see a shower of this intensity until after 9pm..... every chance this could be a good weekend for many and as everyone saying despite the actual temps hovering at 1 and 2 it feels bitterly cold and dew points are excellent.

text Mrs Edo is it snowing in the village and she said "like a blizzard"

I love snexting air_kiss.gif

Question for the more informed....Looking at the radar, as that front down south is splitting and starting to pivot, it looks as if it is joining onto the eastern coastal showers around the Hull area. Is it feeding the showers?

That shower that just brushed Edinburgh passed over Coldstream - check out the radar for the area around Coldstream, particularly to the south and east, and I think things might start to get a bit more interesting for the Lothians in the next few hours.

Partly, certainly the convection seems to have become much more organised since the front headed east. I'd much rather be seeing those big splodges of yellows and oranges and even reds getting closer and closer than be sitting under hours of the light blue front.

Every frame on the UKMO up to 3 days out has sub -8C uppers, every single frame, and every one has us under an easterly flow of some kind, with the most southerly wind being over the next six hours.

Looking good to our East here again though this one may pass mostly to the North as it is a bit lighter towards NE Fife.

Edit. Must be more snow lying out in the outskirts as just told my youngest and her pals are out sledging.

It does seem to be to some degree. If I was in SE Scotland then I would be getting a bit excited. It looks to be setting up quite nicely. You dont want the wind to swing nay more easterly - its a comin' anyway!

Yeh I see that we need it to get over the hills for us to see anything. This has been a really frustrating week for Central and the West! I would accept a light dusting at this stage as I just want to see snow!

Looks like the flow is slowly getting more favourable though. Had "lamp-post snow" here in Chambers Street about 15 minutes ago and other reports cropping up all over the shop.

So optimistic-ish. Semi. Well kind-of. I think.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
