If the UKMO model it, it will come! You will get it tomorrow, I am sure of it.

yep, it does look like you'll get alot there in Chester, potentially up to 15cm I think

We are having a few problems with the symbols for some areas, though overcast conditions can still produce significant snow

Just went on the Met Office web site to see if there was any changes to the Wigan forecast, when I clicked on the forecast instead of the usual 5 day graphics I got this warning from the chief :)

Now that has to be more current than anything. These are hugely important to aircrew and not liable to error winds getting close to limits for smaller aricraft there too(gusts)

I honestly believe we will do better on Saturday from the East.

Frustrating that the Marsden area (nearest east) on the Met office map has the snow symbol for most of the weekend but the Ashton under lyne one (just South West) has nothing for most of the weekend but little tweaks, im probably further east than most in my area anyway so i have a better chance as any, looking better than this time last night, not going to be a full on blizzard but could be a reasonable fall.

It's been snowing since 4.45 in Knutsford - settled pretty much straight away, but not enough to call more than a dusting. But it's carried on and it's all covered (apart from a strip on the road from the enthusiastic gritter at 9.30pm!) with at least a cm at a guess. Only a few tips of the grass showing and it's still coming down. Getting the kids to sleep was fun... ;-)

Yes that TAF makes good reading for the south of the region from midday onwards. I'd say they aren't buying wholly into the METO solution and considering very seriously the relatively consistent GFS in the short term

Met Office going with the TAF. Just been lucky enough to receive this reassuring reply, hot off the press. :D

  • Cheers! Any chance you can tell me what the weather will be like in Runcorn tomorrow? (Halton).

OK midnight New24 forecast showed no snow over any part of the NW upto 14:00 on friday yet he then goes on to show the meto wanring that clearly shows the warning covering much of the south of the region upto manchester north and say 10cm possible??

Just lost all faith of the BBC weather forecast

Downgrade again on Jay Wynne's forecast, the one half an hour ago had the snow in our region but just fizzled out on the 23.56 bulletin, only for it to magically reappear to the east of us on Saturday.

The local NAE (a fairly high degree model) from the Irish sea observatory, shows precipitation missing the northwest.
