Yes towards the NW part of the region temps are just above 0C which would induce a very slight thaw.

I think a max of 1C was forecasted as a max today so no great surprise.

Some light snow showers this morning. Looks like the wind is too easterly to get those north sea showers. I expect it'll just be a few flecks here and there through the rest of today.

On Thursday we were forecast light snow all day. I guess the MO were just covering all possibilities

Potential for Sunday in to Monday?

What about Tuesday in to Wednesday?

Definately a thaw here, even untreated roads are clearing with the aid of vehicles obviously

We should get a glancing blow from this event, although a slight shift westwards might deliver something epic for us West Midlanders. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

temp nipped up to just under 0c. might get a very very slight thaw (about 2% of the snow) come midday then freeze back overnight.

tomorrow light snow in afternoon, hoping for about 2cm topping at least.

Monday evening another interesting one, could slip anyway. in fact will be interesting all next week, snow potentials all over the place. could do with slightly more deep cold to avoid marginal outbreaks.

We're like the one place in the UK on the 06z that stays bone dry dodging every snow risk there is!

Let's be honest, if every other event misses us, we can hardly complain!

I notice when they mention the snow on Sunday they always mention the West Midlands potentially receiving some.

06z NMM precip is a bit disappointing.

basically, the heaviest of the precip is in a line from Luton going Northwest into Leicester, then moves off in a North East direction

lets hope for a westward shift in the next update.

Would it cruel to suggest that it would be funny if the reverse of 9th February 2012 happened?!

maybe worth a nose from Simon Keeling regarding Sunday/Monday snow events based on GFS models.

Our only way out is down a 200 yard farm track which had a 2-3 foot deep drift down its whole length on the leaward Eastern edge of the field. We only had about 8cm level lying but you can see that it had blown off the fields and billowed into a nice long drift.

The good farmer's tractor soon shifted it so we can get out now... though I have driven down the field before now!
