The south manchester snow shield has proven itself to be amazingly effective these last few days. there seems to be decent falls to the North, South, East and west of ussorry.gif

Still its good to here that other folk are getting something out of this

Really really heavy proper snow in St Annes at the moment. Thought I had rain earlier but it was graupel, which got heavy, and has now turned to proper heavy snow and in some areas is settling where it had started to thaw. Amazing being on the coast.

Exactly same here snowdrifter, it went to some wet stuff and very hard and heavy could hear it on the brolly as it decided to do it when i went down the bottom of garden with my new nikon to take a pic of the snow covered logs, now its back to heavy snow!!!

The tiny amount of snow we had has now all gone still got the annoying flakes which don't do anything falling.

SE Manchester very unlucky to miss out - I think you suffered the worst of the Pennine precipitation shadow effect :(

Certainly had a few heavier bursts!! Some real intensity in parts but shame it is very fine stuff mainly.

Any suggestion that the PPN is going to swing back towards us?

It's snowing again here but it's dandruff again and nowhere near enough to make up for the thaw we've had in the last couple of hours. I think we're right on the edge of the precipitation so we're not getting the heavier stuff.

As much as I love going to the Pennines for walks, I hate them for damaging such set ups.

I sometimes wish they were 100 miles further west! lol

I'd go anywhere for snow! lol

Thick fine snow falling here now. I've noticed there is a band of line snow in the north midlands and northeast Wales. May move over the southern parts of our region later.

Just wondering how others in the Lake District are doing?

Had light now all day, no accumulations and if anything the little snowcover that was in fields etc has started to thaw.

It seems that once again we have missed out. Even snowless areas like Blackpool and Lancaster have had some snow.

Why is this happening again?

Blackpool Airport Dewpoint down from 1c to 0c - should help to ease the thawing and make any further snow stick. Temp at 1c but that's ok if DP stays down.

Some heavy stuff coming towards the Fylde now.

About 3 to 4 inch depth here -- of all ages.

Snowing mostly lightly this morning. Some drifting,

Steadily moderate to heavy in last half hour.. Sticking well.

0.7C

One track on public road salted and clear

Rapid thaw in Stockport, melting by the minute, so disappointing.

It is disappointing that we can't get low enough temperatures to avoid a thaw in January! nea.gif
