Around SW Wales you can see the eastward rotation if you play back recent radar images, so it is there, but i think it needs to track further north before first before it turns into the NW. Very unscientifically put I know. Basically, it is possible, but time will tell. Anyone else any thoughts??

Yes I see what you mean, it is pulling the precipitation down off our current system and down around Anglesey and hopefully it will come up again and give us another blast.

Snowing in Bury again now after a break.

It has virtually stopped in Prenton, Wirral. Although the sky still looks full of snow, wonder if we will get more????

Steady fall here near Salwick - although a fast ground thaw has started.

The front is rotating and a shower style streamer has set up towards S Wales (as if they need it!) still see some heavy bursts yet as more ppn is coming from the Humber.

Only a slight thawing here in the Peak District, with temps at -1.1'c in Buxton the temperature is keeping things at bay and critically allowing further accumulations ontop of what's already fallen. We have a good fewinches of snow out on the open-fields and gardens with 1-2inches on the rooftops and a few tree's. Been snowing since I got up around 8.30am and is still going into midday, hopefully with more to come.

Well that was all most unexpected. Finally got some sleep at about 4am. Seems I went just before the heavier stuff arrived. Although when I got up again around 8 it was still coming down nicely. On and off all morning since then. Still a steady but light fall now. Current depth estimate 2.5 inches (6-7cm). There's a slight thaw now - car showing 1C. Most side roads passable with care - main roads clear here. Just shows how random snow events are in this neck of the woods. Best falls in last 10 years or so have all been unforecast until within T-3. Some pics:

I think the pepping up to the west that's currently being observed is due to the colder air meeting the slightly warmer air out to the west. Whether it all tracks back west or not will be down to where the current low tracks and if the warmer moister air out west can push back east. Very difficult to forecast from most of the models. Nowcast, radar loop watch and a big dose of Hopecast :D to see if it does.

Just saw a flake the size of five pence piece, if it carries on like this I'm going to call my own COBRA meeting.

Totally agree. Have played back net/w radar images a few times and it seems echoes just are appearing - certainly not coming from a s/e track like earlier this morning. This is v interesting watching and a definition of nowcasting!!
