Everyone thinks as the wind is coming from the south west here, it will be warm, but if your right JP we may be looking at one very big winter storm, will be interesting to see what unfolds here.

hi alexis

some fascinating weather incoming

if that low drops south

big problems

if it goes north it should start to pull a block over the atlantic and possibly the euro high over us

if it weakens and then retreats back west cold spell repeat soon after

lots of ifs and buts but thats why i am calling fi on the 26th

and that means every model

There's ppn in the SW which is heading in ENE direction.

Worth keeping an eye on as it could veer towards the SE good.gif

Ok, results to 2nd half of draw.

If you didnt post a final depth I'm afraid you forfeit the match, if I've missed your post, If you post the original, I'll look at it again.

Winners underlined in bold. F/F = Match forfeited. Half/Time depth in brackets. Depths in cms.

Roll titles and cue music again. This time a snow video for the ladies but I'll turn the volume off as it spoils the scenery!

Will compile draw later today, for next round of snowfalls whistling.gif , or I could formulate the rest of the competition on a local league basis. Might bring in handicapping based on a members altitude. Would like to know your opinions.

Some very close matches above. Got to give a special mention to my home town, a storming 2nd half performance from all the Bromley teams. clapping.gif

Cheers,

Tom.

BBC shows that SW lot going NNW into Land rather than East towards us tomorrow but they did say uncertainty.

I'll be pleasently suprised if it snows here.

Take a look at the ppn pepping up around the NW part of France and heading in a NE direction. No wonder the MetO are uncertain. SE could be in for a surprise good.gif

Hi KB,

Yes I've been very lucky this time, whole region has shared the snow. Will have a think about that. What do you think about continuing with a Cup format or setting up Local Leagues?

How are the models looking tonight, havnt had a chance, collating all those depths has done my brain in!

Is the breakdown to mild still on course for the weekend?

Cheers mate,

Tom

it could snow in the se in a few hours by the look of things and the temps here now things could prove very interesting indeed very exciting potentially and so close could we be seeing super fast turnaround from the models to extreme cold, looks a little like a 63 battle between the atlantic and the cold air mass.

jp, day off tom. will be able to concentrate on the models. As you know I work in Croydon, 5 mins or so from the Whitgift cente.

So difficult for us to retain snow in middle of Croydon. Been working there since 1999, most snow I've seen was in Feb.2009 from that Thames streamer, must of been 8 inches or so, even in Church St..

Strange that event because you would expect more snow in Bromley, than Croydon on an ENE flow, which is normally the case with streamer events but not that one. Paul Sherman did a brilliant analysis of that event and snowfalls were much heavier than normal, further WSW, well into Surrey.

Btw, great work with all the charts, its a lot of work isnt it!

Cheers,

Tom.

hi tom

2009 was brill

and was such a quick event but really memorable

think i got nearly a foot from that

your right about the time doing the charts but like you i find it fascinating

keep your eye on that low showing it will make a huge difference to our outlook

if it is modelled wrong

got to go and sleep now but things may surprise later

goodnight all

Have a stinker of a cold ,been up since 4.30,thought i would see if there been any change, nice surprise! Gfs so far has done alittle back step, block to the east holding firm and the low off the atlantic is held back with some advection heading north, to iceland. Our snow chance goes up a notch a bit, shunted a little east this afternoon and incoming front on sat may have a good spell of snow, depending on how the atlantiic plays out.It could change on the next run of course for the worse but a good trend for the moment
