Interesting trip over to Preston and back. Slight snow cover this morning from the West side of York right across to Bolton area. South of Leeds hadn't done well, but once onto the M62 there was a decent cover on the hills.

Just come back through that heavy snow, which wasn't pleasant on the tops. Got stuck in almost stationary traffic between Bradford and Leeds just as the heavy band came through and it was really chucking it down,

Came back on the M62 and the Howden route and once past the M1 junction it all really fizzled out until coming up onto the Wolds when it started again. Looking at the radar there seems to be a bit of a split in the front. No snow cover until Driffield, where it was just about starting to settle at 30 m ish, but a decent cover on the Wolds here, though very wet stuff. Has just stopped here, with lots of dripping.

Still snowing here, been non stop for the last couple of hours, it gets brighter and almost stops, then turns dull and picks up again with some really heavy

large flaked showers.

A heavy spell is just starting again now, temp 0.2C with a horrific windchill, even got mini icicles hanging from the wheelie bin. Seems weird that its past 4pm

yet its still daylight, was only a couple of weeks ago that it was dark more or less at 4pm..

Just had a trip from Immingham back to Hedon for work and it seemed to be mostly snow up until Barton but more sleety around the Humber Bridge area and into Hull. Driving east out of the city it then turned back to snow again, so quite a local warming effect at the moment.

Back home it has indeed snowed quite heavily but there is only a dusting as its still a bit too mild. Currently 1.5C with a dewpoint of 0.7C.

Bach home and there's a lot more of the white stuff than there was when I left this morning. I wonder what the depth got to. 7cm - 9cm ???

Anyway after tea I'm clear the drive so my neighbor can get up.

Roads empty tonight did everybody quit and go home this afternoon.

Its stopped snowing now and the temp instantly climbed to 1.5C from 0.1C when the front cleared.

Radar shows a heavy patch of ppn approaching the neighbourhood, hopefully the temps will drop with it.

There looks to be some intense angry patches amongst it too.

Bet it falls as rain now.

A bit of sleet here but my location found a gap in between two areas of moderate to heavy wet snow, so nothing settled and the temperature got no lower than 2.5C as the band passed over.

been a brilliant day in Sheffield today! Pure blizzard conditions this morning, best snow in ages, even better than the stuff we got 2 weeks ago!

Only down side is i was 3 hours late into work lol cuz of the jams :\

Paul Hudson said were in less cold air now so thats why its raining, shame though as it has dented the snow quite a lot

He showed more wintry showers over night though so it must only be a temporary change to rain, heres hoping anyway!

Road conditions were really bad on high ground in Sheffield Blizzards and drifting across the roads in places especially up at owler bar and up near ringinglow.

Been at work all day. Impressively heavy snow between 2 and 4pm giving a few centimetres before turning sleety. Rise in temp means most of it's gone already but it was quite impressive nonetheless!

4.6C here now with a dew point of 0.8C.

Expecting a quite a few showers tomorrow. Might be a bit wintry but not expecting anything too exciting.

Ever get the feeling you're talking to yourself! tease.gif

Woke up to rain this morning. Temp of 4.8C. Just had a decent shower rattle through which had some quite decent sized flakes mixed in. Temp dropped now to 1.9C! Dew point 0.2C.

Might just end up with a little surprise covering again like yesterday!

It was sleeting here first thing but that same heavy shower soon turned to snow and gave almost an inch.

It stayed above freezing though and is thawing steadily already.

On and off sleet/snow showers all morning, none of them managing to stick. Bad timing really with the flow coinciding with the warmest part of the day.

You lot are lucky! Clear blue skies with no clouds at the horizon!

Every time it gets cold enough to snow it seems to become clear and sunny! tease.giffool.gif

Fairly frequent rain/hail/sleet showers here this morning (I'm in Pickering). A few flakes of snow mixed in but barely noticeable.
