Just eeked out my 11th air frost of the winter last night, with a minimum of -0.1c. High today just 6.2c so much lower than inland areas like Perth. Another lovely blue sky day!

Another beautiful day with wall to wall sunshine and blue skies and elements of winter with fog this morning and some wintry looking colours aswell as signs of Spring with longer days etc the characteristics that puts into perspective that we are at the final stage in winter and at cross-over point to Spring. This evening I've been on a brilliant drive up the eastern shrore of Loch Lomond:

Here it is, had to put it in a zipped folder but hopefully it'll open alright.

You may have to download WinZip and use the 'evaluation version' to open the file up.

cheers LS i managed to get that file open that was a great help now i can spend the summer going through everything and hopefully by next winter we will know if there is anything to go with as concerns solar output and if it has any affects on our weather here.

Beautiful morning in Currie. Above the fog. Sunny, blue sky, cold and frosty. Brilliant. Different story down here at the Gyle! Grey, cold and misty.

Fabulous day again here today with wall to wall sunshine as well.Started off at 7.00am at -3c and currently 4c and falling.Ground getting harder and harder day by day in the shade and ther are still areas of frozen snow left from last Saturday. To top it off got a 3rd and fourth prize for neeps today. How sad is that

Nothing like blowing my own trumpet but to add we took 2 first prizes for hay as well. made in the last week of July and the first week in August 2012 Thanks must go to a lot of the help received here from all the experts on the Scottish thread for helping to forecast a dry spell of at least three days or so crucial for haymaking.

Overcast and milder today but shaded ground still frozen to a fair depth under the surface. Currently 5c.

Remarkable consistency the last few days with our readings - with the maxs being similar and my minimums 2-3c milder than yours. Max today 8.1c, min +0.4c. Another pleasant day though cloudier this afternoon. Nevertheless a great week of sun to round off what (here) has been a very uneventful winter.

Some stunning snaps of Scotland - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-21614508

Quite dense fog this morning that lifted around lunchtime but cloud cover did roll on pretty quickly in the afternoon. It's been an interesting winter for many reasons, cetrainly a much better one than 11/12 but also rather modest when compared to 09/10. But all in all, it was pretty decent with a variety of weather conditions and some interesting and different periods of weather. But most importantly, the winter was on the cold side with a decent number of days with falling snow aswell as lying snow and no month really stood out from the rest. Far from outstanding, but a quite decent and well-balanced winter overall. I should have more time in the coming days to reflect upon the past 3 months aswell as looking forward to Spring which is a really special time of year.

Picture from skiing on Glas Maol at Glenshee today. Got a truly alpine bluebird day yesterday but todays grey had a heavy drop of sun in it. Lots of diffuse light making the most of the mist. Grey yes claggy no.

Apparently it is to be a cloudy start, with sun confined to the NE coast...... Did the BBC look oot the window? Wall to wall blue sky with a slight ground frost.

UK High still in charge then ! Waited a while for one of these to develop and as thought it has hung around for a bit, benign cold.

Over the next 24 hours a feeble attempt to retrogress to Greenland is put to rest by advancing cold zonality as the Atlantic hints at firing up a little. Another depression developing as the run continues eventually moving in over the UK towards the 09th or 10th of the month.

Following this height rises behind the Low as it travels east with ridging toward Greenland, so potential for an easterly theme later in the month and in all probability the last throw of the dice for a real classic synoptic wintry evolution prior to spring kicking in.

Great sat pic above from WM, some beautiful sunny days over the last week which makes the longer days all the better. FWIW here is ECM 240 with the weak mid Atlantic ridging. Another chart that kind of sums up what the models wanted to do this Winter, but did not eventually get round to delivering nearer verification.

For this I still think the Canadian Warming early in the season is the chief culprit, but one to ponder for the quieter months. NAO or not to NAO that is the question.. March slightly below average is still firmly on the cards, no Azores or SWrly torch yet

Bladdy hell, no weather today?

too fckn right, just grey nothingness... crawls back to pit early.

It's gloriously sunny here. Brilliant start to March/Spring and just noticing the first signs of the sky getting light at 5:30 in the morning. Dark mornings just about over. Yippee
