Oh dear, hold everything - The Daily Star have something we haven't yet considered:

HOTTEST MARCH EVER AS MINI HEATWAVE HITS UK

BRITS will bask in glorious sunshine this month as March 2013 is tipped to be the hottest on record.

The temperature soared past 17.5C yesterday, 7C warmer than average. Ice cream kiosks opened in the south coast beach resorts of Brighton and Bournemouth as sun-seekers enjoyed the warmest day since October 22 last year. Bookmaker Ladbrokes slashed the odds of March being the hottest on record to just 6-1, while it is offering odds of 10-1 that temperatures will hit 20C this month.

Around 3,000 people – six times the usual number for this time of year – have visited Brighton seafront. A Brighton tourism spokeswoman said: “It’s glorious and the seafront is far busier as people have rushed down after weeks of terrible weather. Coats have been ditched and T-shirts are back.â€

But while this week will remain warm throughout the country, forecasters predict the sun will be replaced by rain at the weekend and we could even see snow ahead of the Easter break. Experts said a cold spell would hit northern England on Monday and all parts from Tuesday, with snow an “increasing risk†at lower levels in the north and east, with the Midlands and the west also under threat.

Met Office forecaster Sarah Holland said: “The mild theme will continue for the next few days but there will be a gradual change with more cloud and light rain. It will turn colder in northern areas on Monday.†However, Ladbrokes has lengthened its odds on the coldest-ever Easter to 14-1.

Spokeswoman Jessica Bridge said: “The sunshine is certain to put a spring in everyone’s step and we’re confident it’s going to be the hottest March ever rather than the coldest.â€

Now I'm not a betting man, but I might just have a quiet flutter here and it won't be on the hottest ever March.......

Just hope the farmers get the lambs in, the weather over the last 12 months or more has really not been kind to them at all. Birds won't be happy either. To think that a year ago we were about to hit 21oc.

I've got to ask, is there anything in the archive for March charts, comparable to those that are showing for next week? It must be almost as good as it can possibly get, from a cold lover's perspective.

be a long time coming.

hi leigh

really hard to compare as different times of year will make

a difference to the upper temperature effect on the ground

if ecm is right from monday snow potential starts

eases on the 13th back on the 14th

i tend to go add 10 degrees for ground temps now re 850 temps

so -10 will be 0

the sun will make a difference but thats if it comes out

night time will be bitter

I wouldn't worry about that low at 9 days out john, did you ever read my end of winter forecast posted about 6 weeks ago ?

hi shotski sorry did not see it

the low i am watching as could be a channel low

could get a dumping if it undercuts

did you see my forecast done in october?

Not so sure i want it now it`s looking i might get my birthday snow! rofl.gif
