It's only midday. Depends how much solar input can expand the PPN instability along the disturbance. If showers keep forming to the SW of the current showers, as per the NAE, then eastern counties of our region, ie Hampshire and Oxfordshire could catch some.

Just saying the East Coast Showers are being caused by the flow in the North sea switching from East to North , The showers already in the SW will likely expand and probably even get as far as the West Midlands. Rain more likely than Snow for the next few hours though .. After this slightly Colder uppers get back in tonight , so anything left might fall as Snow again later.

Lunchtime treat. It's snowing.

Yes that shower passed through here giving snowflakes as the sun shone warmly, I love days like this!

Lovely to see a more convective sky

By the sound of there latest update MOGREP is showing a very Cold Setup .... Next week could be fun as they sound very sure of them selfs ..

Unsettled conditions look set to continue with it becoming cold or even very cold for March. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in most places, although turning more showery at times allowing spells of brightness, especially in the west. Sleet and snow is most likely in the north and east, with the risk of some significant accumulations here. Later in the week, rain and strong winds may spread north, bringing less cold conditions in the south but perhaps more snow in the north. Overall, temperatures will remain well below average; the nights cold and frosty with icy patches. Over northern Britain it will sometimes be windy, accentuating the cold. Conditions are expected to remain rather cold and unsettled into the following week with a continuing risk of snow in places.

Checking the radar, we were both rather lucky.

Hopefully the activity to the North West will make it through too.

That looks like cold rain for the majority of the south west sadly

Some quite potent cells in SE Wales heading into Somerset and Devon now.

Could be an interesting afternoon for some.

Some places get them, some don't. Comes down to pot luck in convective days like today.

Although I did have a light sleety shower earlier, and looking at the radar, perhaps something else to come yet still.

It's snowing here right now, in spite of the radar showing it to be rain. Looks as though the line of whatever is heading right this way....

There has been a large heath fire here, 70 firefighters at the scene, the road was shut betwen Wareham and Corfe Castle.

They now have it under control and the road is about to reopen but the fire brigade have warned, the heathland is very dry at the moment.

I'm surprised at it being that dry, a recent walk across Arne heath showed it to be very boggy with a lot of pools of water. huh.png

Thanks for posting this Mapantz. We know the area very well and like you are surprised at the report that the heath is very dry. Any idea how the fire started?
