Some convection happening now out there I think, intensity and size of hail/graupel increasing. I think the 'warm' March sun is heating the surface enough between the showers to kick things off as it were.....should see some good local accumulations later this afternoon/after sunset if this continues.

It looks like this strong nagging easterly wind will start to ease from tomorrow so hopefully this bitter wind chill should ease

Both of Darlo's weather stations seem well off today

One of them is showing 3.0c

and the other is showing 4.0c

Both are miles out at best its 2c

Any chance of a weather warning for accumulations of more than 1-2cm later in the week? The current warnings are an embarrassment, fair enough if it was London but we are Northerners (hard as nails) :p

I think tomorrow could see the peak in these light snow showers from the north sea during the next 48 hours by Friday things should be quieter once an area of high pressure edges down from the north leading to a cool but dry Easter weekend

Yeah always difficult to predict these showers of the north sea though it can come to life at anytime in these situations, parts of NE Scotland look like there seeing some heavier precipitation currently

Still what ever it does we aren't looking at anything significant maybe a cm or 2 at best before it melts during the day

Light/moderate snow now with decent sized flakes settling on frozen surfaces.

Just a typical spring night at the moment.wacko.png
