Only had the Jan spell deliver anything noteworthy here in the way of snow and looking at the winter as a whole I've certainly been more disappointed than not (from an IBMY point of view) so on that basis I won't be taking anything for granted until its either falling out of he sky or laying thick on th floor.

Although having said that I do appreciate the extent, rarity and extremity of some of the cold Synoptics that have come to fruition and weather experienced by some.

As mentioned earlier, ECM 168 sharpens that low to our south east as energy disrupts into the trough from the south-west

Tamara - ill check later on but given the upper profiles (-6 to -8c 850's) under a shallow flow, one would hope that we would be the right side of marginal away from immediate coastal strips smile.png

Yes, as i stated just now, I amended my post after a second glancesmile.png . Looks like the cold weather and snow potential is going to last right up to Easter. A hint of change then, but much more output needed of course

Well might not have snow falling outside my office window in Croydon but plenty of snow falling around the country, on our SIS/ATR tv screens.

Horse racing at Wolverhampton only just survived a 5.00 inspection, due to snow and now its snowing pretty steadily again.

Some pretty heavy snow also falling at the Greyhound racing at Sheffield, might be worth popping into the Yorkshire thread, to have a gander at that!

Regards,

Tom.

Well considering I'm already seeing snow through my window, I would guess that's a load of bhollocks :D

It's falling at BBC studios live at the one show filmed outside atm

Edit it's rain under there lights I think lol

Lowestoft is currently 2C with a DP of -1C. radar forecast has a few flurries there starting at 6pm. ECM has a total of 3cm for that area.

I would bet my house that by Sunday morning Lowestoft will have seen some falling snow and possibly a light covering. "

Still confident Tim, or are all bets off?!

I'm not sure anyone will complain when we get a nice warm april and may with showers followed by a nice high dominated summer, well here's hoping anyway.

I have been trying to get on met office for 3hrs.

Is this website that's designed to keep the public informed actually going to work in times of need?

Disgraceful !

About 20 miles roughly, I'm quite high though, I'm 2 miles from the highest place in Hertfordshire (Reed)

I maybe wrong but isn't the met office funded by the tax payer?

@esccroads: We just had an update from the @metoffice about Snow. We're expect some around 5am so the gritters will be out at 3am on primary routes 1/2

That's East Sussex roads

@esccroads: We will also treat snow routes at 5am and we will send the gritters out as needed as more snow is expected during Saturday. Stay tuned
