Couple of Sferics popped up in Midlands now. Looks like most of the action will skew south and east of here

Looks like GFS and NMM are broadly correct so far :good:

Just noticed that myself, although thinking in hindsight the winds aloft around 850hpa would be pretty strong given the barometric gradient, so more likely its just an overshooting top being carried eastwards along the upwind direction. Looking at the RADAR currently i'd say on a visual basis most if not all the cells today are showing the same characteristic.

At least it's a relatively good indicator showing where the cells are likely to go.

Just a shame that my time in Oklahoma has completely dulled my enthusiasm for the UK-style thundery showers...

Midlands looks the place to be, a whole rash of downpours. Game over here, not that it was ever on.

It's gone rather quiet up in the North East now, looks like the best showers will be restricted to the Midlands.

Sounds good. Hard to imagine some places have had multiple storms in the time I've had none. Enjoy.

The LLC driving these showers is now starting to gather pace as it begins to cross Shropshire into Derbyshire, the showers still advecting to the east and will continue to do so over the afternoon. Unfortunately we only had the one cell just as midday came and went, with the instability slowly starting to transition out across the central midlands into Lincs by the early evening.

Still a slight chance for something along the back-edge of the LLC as it moves through however.
